I was looking forward to watching it but after seeing the trauma-p0rn in the trailer I refused to give this any attention.

Deserved.

Did it even have hot gay s scenes? If not then no wonder it flopped.

It was absolutely terrible and I am happy to hear this news.

The show looked AWFUL

I knew it because it made zero noise. I'm sorry for the actors though.

It did but it was more like queer sex. There wasn't many if any "straight passing" guys having sex, lol.

It had so much social justice commentary but not a great storyline. But I don't think the OG series would work these days either, because people have access to so much more hardcore adult content now.

Lol, I mean it's not my opinion, but for the wider community I guess it is. I thought Fin Argus was good in it anyway. But maybe people wanna see something that's not just p*rn with a storyline these days. See how well Heartstopper did, for example.

Serves them right for trying to piggyback off the original when they're not even connected.

Good. I'm tired of this awful gay representation crap America keeps churning out :gaycat5:

Good. It should have never been called QAF to begin with :deadbanana4:

The characters, storylines and actors weren't compelling at all.  Not even surprised.

It was a long shot it’d get renewed, pretty universally panned and flopped during Pride Month ?

The original Queer As Folk was p*rn with a storyline. And Heartstopper is on the exact opposite of the spectrum, there’s allowed to be a middle ground :toofunny2:

My comment was more underscoring you stating what many others in here weren’t but implying, that they were mad that it wasn’t just muscle queens boning at circuit parties like the original show :rip:

the way they always gets everything wrong with gay shows :gaycat6: how hard is it to make a decent qaf remake with just a bunch hot guys and without all the woke **** and artsy direction... the thing is that a true remake of the show would be a pretty big hit especially with girls

I know what you meant. And I know the og was like that. I even said in another post that maybe the og wouldn't have succeeded these days either because there's so much free p*rn available anyway. The og series was so scandalous 20 years ago that it lured people in out of curiosity. And I mentioned Heartstopper because it's kinda radical to depict a monogamous gay couple these days when being a wh*re and starting an OF is cool. Of course we need more mature gay storylines too.

Very cringeworthy and tryhard show from what I saw. I couldn't figure out what could've been its audience.

That’s… not why Heartstopper was successful :rip: It was uwu utopian fan fiction with no sexual content whatsoever marketed to Gen alpha and straight girls, the characters being “monogamous” has nothing to do with it. It was essentially the extended live action version of this:

You can have “monogamous” queer shows where they fcuk all over the place, sex and monogamy are not mutually exclusive, nor does a “mature” gay storyline necessitate promiscuity.

This QAF interation failed because it was poorly promoted and on a failing streaming service where it did not fit at all. Had it been on HBO or Netflix it would have generated much more discussion.
