Unfortunately it was a 2 hours long bug. Back to normal now. 

 

Spotify's biggest playlists has now a personalized order, based on algorithm.

Smaller playlists has been like this for quite some time, and now it's time for Today's Top Hits. 

 

The songs on the playlists are the same for everyone, what changes is the order. 

 

For me right now, for example, the order is:

#1 Pink Venom - Blackpink

#2 Calm Down - REMA & Selena Gomez

#3 Boyfriend - Dove Cameron

(...)

my friend is now:

#1 Late Night Talking

#2 I'm Good (Blue)

#3 Pink Venom - Blackpink

Calm Down is only #45 on his, Boyfriend #30. Very different. 

 

Whats your order and how do you think this will impact charts for now on?

IT IS!!! i just clicked on New Music Friday and it got a delay so i literally saw the songs changing positions omg 

for example now i have carly rae jepsen #2 there omg it wasn't even top 20 i'm sure

it will make it harder. but payola will always exist 

u probably can still pay to ENTER the playlists (this didn't change i guess, just the order) 

and maybe even pay to fake algorithm idk...

they need to unite selena gomez and selena gomez & the scene NOW. 

she has 3 albums less with classics like LYLALS that just doesn't count for her algorithm 

people stream it and it just doesn't count like a Selena Gomez stream, it for sure hurts her algorithm 

i hate it here

This is great for labels because now they can push their acts (what y’all call payola) straight to the audience that consumes the respective genre or similar artists. Before they had small playlists that did the job, but the big ones were very general leaning and some of the push didn’t pay back long term. Now they can do multiple pushes for different audiences and get results (more streams and exposure)
