The way they’re going this route to beg the flopping audience to come crawling back after s2’s disaster. S3 has been alright so far but still nothing of note in comparison to the charm of s1. 
 

We were actually discussing in the HSMTMTS thread about how the musicals they used in the last 2 seasons just don’t have the pop music to entertain the gp - so hopefully focusing on a production of hsm3 while nostalgia baiting with hsm4 production will help recover some magic (though it’s weird they’re skipping hsm2, but they already did half of those songs so it makes sense I guess)

This show had all the potential in the world after Season 1 and they have completely fumbled it.  I'm glad they are going back to their HSM roots, but they've already butchered the characters and storylines at this point.

At least they got back on track with the meta stuff and comedy with this last season, so this sounds cool. The fact that just the pilot was true to what they advertised originally and then it went downhill from there... S1 ending and the entirety of S2 were dumpster fire.

 

Hope both Vanessa and Ashley do appear properly and not have ridiculous short cameos like they have had with other people in the series.
