I can't always do that the weekend of release. So I support this. Why are you acting like you have to endure the entire season in one sitting? If all the episodes are there then you’re in control of when you consume them. Why do they need to make it weekly for everyone just because people like you enjoy that?
Eric. Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 (edited) This could work for shows that get renewed beyond the first season because I suppose they've determined the hype is there to keep people anticipating every week for every new episode. It might also help them slow down the production schedule so they can focus on the quality and not have to churn out so much content. They could also use this method to direct viewers to other similar content once a weekly episode is over, because viewers will most likely want to keep on binging. Edited September 10, 2022 by Eric.
Mr.Link Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Seems like the streaming bubble is starting to burst. Netflix cant afford year-round original content without commercials or rising prices. This “strategy” offers nothing to benefit customers, it’s a desperate attempt to keep them subscribed while offering less. And no, the “spoiler” excuse is bullshit.
Starkboy Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Considering most of series nowadays have a little amount of episodes (even 6 most of times), I think weekly release will make more sense.
saucy Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Always hated the binge format. Hype is all gone by the time I finish it. 9 hours ago, InventedGays said: I really like the approach they had with the new Stranger Things, The Circle, and a few others where they release like 3-4 episodes at a time. It quenches the "binge" portion by giving you more than one but still allows the hype and anticipation to be drawn out over several weeks This is a good alternative too. The format worked really well for Arcane because it had very clear arcs. Putting it all at once would've killed the suspense.
Martyr Of Fame Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Just keep splitting the show in 2-3 releases for bigger shows. It’s so obvious.
Sombre Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Makes sense. One could be subscribed and binge watch all new episodes of Stranger Things and then cancel, or would have to be subscribed 3 months to watch all of season 4.
Khal Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Binging at least gives you the option to watch it how you like, that people choose to watch it all at once is on them. Reverting to this means that choice is gone Anyway, it's just funny that Netflix's main selling points (binging, having all your shows in one place so subscriptions don't become bloated like with cable) is now wiped out and we're reverting to how it used to be before Netflix was supposed to "solve" these issues

I already answered that I know I don't have to, but if I miss the initial hype, then my motivation for watching it goes. Netflix hype doesn't last long, so if I can't finish it within the first 1-2 weeks, no one's talking about it anymore so I will wait to binge it. Whereas if it's only one episode I have to watch, I can watch that in a week's time. There are other shows I watch/I do other things, so if a new show drops, I don't drop everything to watch it.
G.U.Y. Gaga Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 THE SILENCE ATE MY ETETNAL SOUL why they take it from me I cry
ATRL Moderator feelslikeadream Posted September 10, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted September 10, 2022 Then I would just wait for the season to be over and then binge it then, just like I do with shows that currently air weekly That said, I don't mind their setup with shows like The Circle, where they release a few eps at a time. That works well since you want to build up hype for the finale and fans can talk about the show on social media without worrying about spoilers.
JonginBey Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 That’s not going to stop them from cancelling shows left and right.
Leptine Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Quality needs to be their priority in first, weekly release won't change their decline if they don't start to cut the tones of crap they're financing worldwide. In the last months I started tones of shows from several countries and I stopped more than half of them because they were crap since the beginning.
thismoment Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 I prefer binge watching, they’re already making us wait like 3 years for a new season
UnusualBoy Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 This weekly thing is obnoxious af, hate to wait.
aayAlex Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 this should be done only with a couple of series
Johnny Jacobs Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 That will b like McDonald's will eliminate junk food for organic food
Hephaestus Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 They've should have done this a long time ago. Dropping entire seasons all at once was never going to be sustainable on the long term.
