Gaga‘s lyrics are sometimes basic but usually more clever and her melodies better while Lana has always painted the same sad picture with her lyrics, but both are very good obviously

I love Gaga, A LOT, but Lana is way superior songwriting-wise.

Obv Lana but it’s because she went deep into the songwriting craft and now she’s a master. Gaga has dabbled in so many areas of entertainment and she’s excelled in so many, but who knows what would’ve happened if she decided to focus solely on songwriting. Different paths but I’d say it’s been very successful for both artists.

Gaga can write a chorus and catchy melody with the right production like it’s nobody’s business.

Lana can write sprawling, beautiful, harmonious songs that are cohesive and poignant and can make an album feel like a singular piece of art.

Different lanes. I would give it to Lana if I had to pick one, but they’re both excellent when it comes to their strengths. Others with their writing camps and 75 “co-“songwriters and fake credits could never!
