:chick3: RIP

Let me stream Goodbye Horses in her honor. There will always remain a part of me incomplete for not having a long version of the song she sings in Philadelphia :cries:

Después de una investigación realizada por el sitio web ATRL en 2018, fue posible contactar a Luckey y esta confirmó que es actualmente una conductora de autobús en Staten Island, Estados Unidos.

There was definitely a thread about this mid-August but I can't find it anymore, weird.  She passed away in July, and has a family that is surely mourning their loss.  She seemed like a really nice, down to earth person. :heart2:

I was literally in the process of making this thread, I-

Lemme copy-paste:

RIP QUEEN :monkey:.

We love a one-of-a-kind warm, rich contralto voice - she was truly too good for the music industry ("Q’s [Diane Luckey] dream was always success & fame, but found herself repeatedly turned away by record companies, who insisted they couldn't market her. She replied, ‘I market myself, I’m a big boned African-American woman who wears dreads, sings American rock & roll – I market myself.’”) They didn't deserve her.

"Luckey’s career in the pop spotlight was a brief & mysterious one, as details about her were famously scarce, & she only ever had one official song released: the dark synth-pop classic “Goodbye Horses,” a song of pure nocturnal magic, & an enduring pop culture staple following its use in the Oscars-sweeping blockbuster Silence of the Lambs in 1991." OOF, we love timeless excellence :clap3:. A cult hit charts-wise, but its cultural impact is astronomical.

We also stan movie director Jonathan Demme - who featured Ms. Lazzarus's music in four of his movies - for being literally the one industry person who believed in & supported Ms. Lazzarus. The four movies are Silence of the Lambs, Married to the Mob, Philadelphia, & Something Wild.

"At the time of her death, we were planning a ‘comeback concert’ with some of her original bandmates.”" :wanda:

"“In August 2019, ... we started making a documentary about her life & music together which we’ve been working on for the past 3 years. We were just preparing to film the final scenes when she tragically & unexpectedly passed away last month at the age of 61. Q's friend Aridjis says she plans to release her film, Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarus, in 2023. She says the film contains numerous stories from Luckey about “her years ‘underground’ & the dozens of crazy experiences she’d had.” Aridjis also said Luckey gave her “a huge sack of cassette tapes” featuring music recorded during her time in NYC & London during the 80s & 90s. “These songs have never been released before, but there are so many good ones in various genres & many of them will feature in the film and on the soundtrack”" YAY :clap3:

"As her collaborator, I am now more determined than ever to get her incredible story & amazing music out into the world. The film will no longer end with her comeback concert & her “resurrection”- but I am glad that the world will still get to hear her story – in her own words & through her own songs – a precious task which she entrusted me with and which I will be forever grateful for.”" OOF, you know you're amazing when a reclusive person trusts & supports you that much (Enya with Nicky Ryan & Roma Ryan teas :cm: @naval23)

Let's also stan the only other song Q has officially (technically) released: the B-side to Goodbye Horses, called White Lines
