Pacify Him Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 All this just to continue the Harry Potter franchise?
xclusivestylesz Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 What about the other hundreds of people that were already laid off?
shookspeare Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 diversity teams in general just bloat bureaucracy and don't really do anything so good for them

Denim Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 All these huge companies that SWORE in 2020 that they were going to improve representation in the entertainment industry are ALL quietly going back to "business as usual". The movie industry is one of the most white washed industries in the world, from in front of the camera to the behind the camera. It doesn't surprise me at all that they are laying off diversity teams, it was all just a front so they could get good publicity. If you look at the box office in 2020-2022, a huge, disproportionate majority of the biggest films are still white male leads. *pretends to be shocked* Now that WB and its new leadership sees the success of "middle-america content" (top gun maverick, Yellowstone, etc...) that have majority white casts, they're gonna follow the money as usual, instead of sticking to any promises made.

Well, it’s show BUSINESS, not show CHARITY.

ALittleGauche Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Tbh HBO Max had great shows that had intersectional representation yet no one watched them (genera+ion, Tokyo Vice, Rap ****, female-driven shows like Julia and Minx, The Girl Before, etc). It’s the usual suspects that we’re getting the audience and critical reception (typically led by a primarily white cast with a straight while male lead).

People evidently prefer seeing white-skinned people. This is just one of those cases where a company is giving people what they want. What, do you want corporations to force diversity on the GP?

What, do you want corporations to force diversity on the GP? make quality content equally across the board. it's not like we're short off talent or artists. enough with the remakes, reboots and requels. also this comment is giving white supremacy enabler vibes.
