Attitude Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Quote The global economic environment is a challenge that many of you around the world are no doubt experiencing. We’re seeing high global inflation rates, as well as adverse currency trends, impacting consumers and creating pressure on many industries. Based on these challenging economic conditions, SIE has made the difficult decision to increase the recommended retail price (RRP) of PlayStation 5 in select markets across Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), Asia-Pacific (APAC), Latin America (LATAM), as well as Canada. There will be no price increase in the United States. The new RRPs below are effective immediately unless otherwise noted.* Europe PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – €549.99 PS5 Digital Edition – €449.99 UK PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – £479.99 PS5 Digital Edition – £389.99 Japan (effective Sept. 15, 2022) PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – ¥60,478 yen (including tax) PS5 Digital Edition – ¥49,478 yen (including tax) China PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – ¥4,299 yuan PS5 Digital Edition – ¥3,499 yuan Australia PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – AUD $799.95 PS5 Digital Edition – AUD $649.95 Mexico PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – MXN $14,999 PS5 Digital Edition – MXN $12,499 Canada PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – CAD $649.99 PS5 Digital Edition – CAD $519.99 If this hits the states. source. enchanted0 Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 The way mine is left in the dust after playing merely one hour of Spider Man (and 30 minutes of Stray)
Oxy Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Fine by me, one of the few companies worth the money.
Peroxide Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Eh. I’ve got my Series X I love PlayStation but I would rather buy a PS5 further down the line when there’s an amazing catalogue of games to enjoy…
tiagol88 Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 I mean...Sony is watching all the stores making these huge expensive 700€ packs and still selling out With inflation, the chip shortage crisis that was happening, i'm not too surprised. Anyway, got mine already since day one
ExtraChapstick Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 I got mine in late 2020 so I'm set, but this isn't at all surprising given the state of the global economy. 6 minutes ago, Allday said: PC >>>>> console PC gaming is more affordable in the long-run, from what I've heard. Lower cost to get the same OR better performance and graphics. Still, I've always leaned toward PlayStation and the number of exclusives that either never hit PC or don't hit PC until years later just doesn't sound appealing to me. Sorry.
Bosque Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 I'm just gonna wait for the Playstation 6 at this point
Patient Zero Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 I got mine as a gift. My only ussue right now are the €79,99 games
arceus Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 Imagine paying for that but you could only play remastered games from 2010

Canadians and our dollar really lost, huh? The irony was, I was waiting for a price cut before even looking for one. Now I’ve waited too long and the price is actually going up I really wanted one before the RE4 remake is released next spring. I hope Capcom last minute announces it as cross gen and I can just get it for ps4 like they did with RE8
elevate Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 It's really interesting that they're having such extreme supply issues. In Australia, they've basically been selling bundled PS5s to avoid scalpers. On Ebay, bundled / used PS5s are selling at almost the same price as retail. I game infrequently so PC gaming is more suited to me. I played the new Spiderman (well, four years old for PS gamers) and it's fun but not groundbreaking or anything. I've only played an hour or so and haven't picked it up again. I'm surprised consoles are still selling this well, tbh.
Shawn Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 A lot of those countries are already paying exorbitant markups on both the console & the games.
magazine Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 This plus the forced bundles with Horizon to inflate sales Truly embarrassing At this point, they might as well bundle it with a jockstrap too And ATRL swore Xbox was the one increasing prices with gamepass. The backfire Thank god they were the first one's to set the prices, imagine how bad this could've been!
bijonse Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 i don’t give a **** about a price increase can they just make more of them. it’s been two years if this is a marketing thing then it’s NOT working
Margaux Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 only shills would buy a ps5 considering it has no notable games
