His purpose was to make Ye jealous and goody-two-shoes at a desired moment. Whether that has succeeded or not, that job is no longer required. There are no vacancies now and tiny Pete has no other qualities and benefits for her to keep him — she can get a man with better looks, bigger pockets, bigger package and bigger everything, so adios. She isn't about to get entangled in a charity relationship and end up paying alimony instead of getting one.
