Rolling Stone: Warner Bros CEO Is Determined To Kill The Snyderverse

Word has it that Gal is out, along with Margot. They’re ending the entire thing.
He wants anything and anyone connected to Snyder gone. Rolling Stone keeps spilling the tea on what is going on. The CEO also wants more JK Rowling projects. He’s a big Trumper to boot and says conservatives have been maligned.

Not Margot. She's brilliant on the role :dancehall:

They have some good fundamentals, people enjoy Gal's Wonder Woman and Aquaman. There's always high interest in Batman and Superman. They should've just replaced Ezra Miller much sooner, and they have the chance to turn the franchise into a success.

All of JK's projects have been ghastly failures so I don't see why anyone in his right mind would want more of that

What an absolute moron :deadbanana2:

Not more JK Rowling when those were bombing even more than DC :skull:

Why would he invest more in JK Rowling when all the projects she headline have been bombing??? This man is gonna destroy WB.

Nope. Superman is deemed unprofitable. That ship has sailed. They’ll concentrate on the comic book.

Gaga is taking over Harley Quinn, but don’t expect any DC side projects. The DCEU is essentially over. They’ll do two Batman films (if the next one in a few years shows real profit; The Batman is deemed a semi-success as investors expected a billion dollar gross and marketing isn’t included in the budget that was made public), and Joker, and that’s it. Those films are also a few years out. The Batman spin-offs for HBO are also basically dead as well. Basically Warner Bros. is moving away from the whole comic book movie genre. Marvel is also in trouble. It’s all about Discovery and keeping costs low.

About Margot - she cost the studio millions with multiple bombs. That’s more or less the reason she’s out.

If this CEO basically destroys WB, he’ll be out, and then who knows? However, the goal is to make money and he’s doing that by axing everything. That will make investors happy in the end. But eventually WB will become stale and irrelevant. That’s when there will definitely be another shake up, maybe even a new buyer. It’ll take years for that to happen though.

Listen, I love the synderverse and enjoy Zack’s vision but I understand it’s not for everyone and it wasn’t as critically or commercially successful as they wanted it to be.

But this mindset is just as toxic and harmful as the crazy Snyder fans who live on Twitter. This guy is going to destroy WB with this mentality.

And the whole JK statement, just absurd, to quote Aretha “I’m gonna pass on that”

She literally has the Barbie movie next year if that ends up being a major success, thisll backfire big time.

I don't like Snyder's movies but this sucks. Margot is fantastic in that role (Gal not so much). TSS and Birds Of Prey were great and I think only did badly because of other circumstances. Birds Of Prey shouldn't have been R Rated and should have been called something like Harley Quinn and the Birds Of Prey and TSS was released in a Covid spike and came with the baggage of the last movie sucking. Aquaman managed to be a hit somehow, The first Wonder Woman was. It isn't like DC can't find success with these movies.

Also more Rowling projects? Her franchise isn't doing great either.

I do think if this is true that it's funny how the Snyder fans went so hard against BOP and TSS for not being true enough to Snyder's vision only to end up in the same boat as those movies.

I mean isn’t this a good thing? Everyone has been saying DC needs a hard reboot. The fact the two most successful DC films in the last 3 years have all been outside the DCEU speaks volumes.

I wouldn’t count on animated projects either. They are really looking to get away from the comics thing and it’s not like DC can just go to another company. They are pretty much both stuck and screwed.

On another note, it may be time for the industry to give the comic book genre a rest. It’s oversaturated and it seems that audiences are less enthused. The comic book industry is in the toilet and comics are what get people interested in these films to begin with. We may be headed into a comic book dark age. Even comic books lasting is in question. People don’t buy them anymore. Stores have closed all over the country.

What this CEO is going to go after next is video games. The **** is really about to hit the fan. Keep in mind that he had been heading Discovery since 2006. That’s where his loyalty lies. Discovery and CNN’s app never took off, so that’s what they’re focused on now. CNN is going to be merged with whatever this new app is going to be.

They’re not getting a reboot though. It’s getting shut down and they’re shifting away from the genre.

It would never get shut down because shareholders would not stand for it especially after the success of The Batman. Plus Zaslav already said himself he loved Joker and The Batman and wanted more films like them.
