Ms. Marvel BOMBS at the Nielsen chart ratings

I love the MCU and I’ve seen all of the movies and shows, minus this one. I will eventually get around to it for completionist reasons, but the trailer never appealed to me. It reminded me of something you’d see on Disney so it always turned me off.

Maybe the actual show itself is better than what the trailer made it out to be, but it hasn’t made me feel like I *must* watch it ASAP. I won’t be surprised if this is why a lot of other MCU fans didn’t tune in. I don’t think it’s fair to throw the racism card around when that played no role in why I chose not to watch.

I feel like so much MCU content is drawing people away from it instead.

Am i the only one that used to feel hyped for every movie release but with a movie or show happening every month it's just...okay to foolow all this now?

I literally watched Ms. Marvel finale yesterday only :rip:

I equally felt the same, it felt like The Cheetah girls go to Bollywood, which kinda watered down the superhero angle that would have let the character shine and be bold.

This is what it’s happening to me, it’s way too much, I guess they had more gaps between things but COVID-19 affected the release dates

It felt like Lizzie McGuire at times and then it felt like it tried to take itself too seriously at other times. Plus the 6 episode concept does not work for every show Marvel!

It’s a good show. I think the show will get its moment eventually.

I know people waited to binge it. People will also revisit it before and after the Marvels when they see how great of a character she is.

It’s nothing to do with the character or her ethnicity, especially from my end. Kamala was great in The Avengers game and I was looking forward to her show, but I prefer how she was portrayed in the game and I’m definitely not alone in thinking that. Her video game adaption was so faithful to the comics and I just wish the Disney+ version was the same.

I watched this only because I saw it had some good critic reviews and really enjoyed it - very interesting to have a Pakistani character and family as main characters. Well worth a watch! Saying that as someone who's largely tuned out Marvel. Main character is a breath of fresh air.

It is marketed HORRIBLY though. Makes it seem like a little kid obsessed with Captain Marvel, when really she's pretty independent, amusing and doing her own thing very different from what's been in the marvel universe before.

It was so good and it actually has rewatchability value, which not many other shows have

It kinda felt like a CW show at times.

This is what happens when they make a show just for the sake of representation :deadvision: The way even South Asians do not care and find it cringey

Or just stream both because they’re both great and representation doesn’t need to be limited to one show.

Right! We’ve been conditioned to accept tokenism.

The trailer alone was enough reason for me not wanting to watch, it made me feel nothing.

Marvel is throwing too many new characters their own movie or TV show. Why not bring her into a big movie that will introduce her like Spiderman?

Stop focusing on random marvel characters and start focusing on popualr ones like X-men and the fantastic four

Ms. Marvel is absolutely not a random character :rip:

MCU needs to slow down - it’s churning out content - people have so much they can watch :rip:  They’re trying so hard to make Disney plus happen

Can you please elaborate on this? The main focus of the show was being a Pakistani and the consequences of British imperialism/ Partition, was it badly executed? I haven't seen takes like this about the show so I would like to know.

As a Pakistani person living in Pakistan, I'd say the show did a really good job at sincere representation, and it was a fresh of breath air to see Pakistani talent being used outside Pakistan.

I feel like they focused an ever so slightly too much on the partition thing, we don't really care about it now, and sometimes the representation seemed more strictly Indian than South Asian as a whole, but overall it was a job well-done in that regard and I'd like to see more of it.
