6th December 2022:
-A group of Australian lawmakers has arrived in Taiwan, according to Taipei's foreign ministry, defying Beijing's warnings about the visit at a time of rising tensions over the self-ruled island.
-
Ministry spokeswoman Joanne Ou told reporters that “There is a group of bipartisan members of the parliament from Australia currently visiting Taiwan. They are already here.”
-"We appreciate that the Australian parliament is very friendly to Taiwan," Ou said, describing Taipei-Canberra relations as "robust, diverse, and mutually beneficial." According to a spokesman for one delegation member, the group left Sunday for a five-day visit to Taiwan, risking China's ire just as relations between Beijing and Canberra appeared to be warming.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi was supposed to go to Taiwan in April. She cancelled reportedly due to Covid.

Now she along with a delegation will go to Taiwan on August 1st. This is the anniversary of the People's Liberation Army (a sensitive day for China).

This is news because an American speaker has not visited Taiwan in 25 years.

Biden says the army thinks China may shoot the plane down.

Indian News is reporting that the NSA is against it.

(CNN)US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is expected to visit Taiwan as part of her tour of Asia, according to a senior Taiwanese government official and a US official, despite warnings from Biden administration officials, who are worried about China's response to such a high-profile visit.

China Announces Sanctions on Nancy Pelosi Over Taiwan Trip

China said it would sanction US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, after she defied Beijing by becoming the highest-ranking American politician to visit Taiwan in 25 years.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced the measures on Pelosi and her immediate family members in a statement late Friday.

Nancy Pelosi refused to confirm or deny it. She said discussing travel plans is a security issue.

Biden said the military wouldn't like it but he does not know the status of the trip.

Pelosi responded by saying Biden thinks the Chinese will shoot her plane down.

This shows the absurdity of anti-Chinese hysteria under the American lens because it is objectively absurd for a politician to make such a wild accusation without evidence that a foreign country is threatening to blow up a plane with US citizens on it (let alone sounding like a form of projection), but that you then can't vocalize how irresponsible this is of the US to do without then five people with a combined IQ of 12 running into your mentions going "tANKie!!!11". :skull:
