helikesitheymikey Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Lol. Netflix’s flop era. Can’t we just collectively cancel them?
fridayteenage Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 people already watched smash masterpiece squid game enough times, ig
ATRL Moderator feelslikeadream Posted July 20, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted July 20, 2022 Oh wow, this is WAY better news for them than expected And now Heartstopper will lead to an increase in subs for Q3
Bad_vocal_technique Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 (edited) That sounds like not much compared to the total subscribers. I don’t understand why the media is paying so much attention to this. they can easily re gain subs with the next hit show or whatever. Edited July 20, 2022 by Bad_vocal_technique
Archetype Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 5 hours ago, Domination said: I don’t know how to tell you both this but revenue does not equal profit and at this point Netflix has been hemorrhaging subscribers for 2 quarters. The stock is up 10% because the media was reporting potentially 2M subscriber losses, but that’s literally just media manipulation. Just because of some random spurt of optimism does not mean Netflix is not in hot water as their expenses grow and their business slows. We know. Netflix's main problem isn't that it's losing subscribers, it's that the streaming market is overly saturated with options and Netflix has his a soft limit on the number of subscribers per year unless they can offer cheaper or free tiers. They're looking to launch a free tier with advertising as soon as possible, but I'm not sure that's the best approach. I think they should stop focusing on subscription numbers and focus on profitability and the quality of its discovery engine to better leverage its existing vast library of content. Going the Spotify of Hulu way ensures more subscribers but it also lowers the perceived value of the brand and might actually cost Netflix more to support from an infrastructure perspective. 5 hours ago, Domination said: They could easily reverse this by investing in content that is not Disney channel for adults but alas that is too much to ask. Netflix essentially has every type of movie, show, etc that one would want to see, more than any other streaming platform. Not saying the quality is the highest, that would probably go to Apple TV+ or HBO Max, but I don't think content is the problem. Binging IS a problem tho, they need to stop releasing entire seasons at once and follow what HBO and Apple have been doing.
MotoPapi Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 I use Hulu more cuz they have the housewives and family guy/American Dad
Mr.Link Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Here’s one more waiting for The Crown to end to finally pull the plug.

Bey'Knight Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 Maybe they should stop paying the likes of Ryan Reynolds and Adam Sandler double digit millions and focus on quality content. Not everything will dominate the zeitigest like stranger things but it’s very telling that their most successful content has nothing to do with Hollywood names. People don’t want to watch Dwayne Johnson scaling buildings on a small screen. Leave the blockbuster market alone. You already have your quartet of last quarter Oscar baits. That should appeal to cinephiles. Anyways bring on The Crown season 5.
Khal Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 And they haven't introduced their ad plan yet? I wish them luck with that.
Stan.killah Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 THIS IS GREAT! They expected to lose 2 million but only lost 970k This good news made the stock shoot up 5% after it was announced #ThankyouStrangerThings

cognitus. Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 I already cancelled this trash when D+ arrived last month to my country. I can watch The Crown on other sites for free when it arrives, don't need to pay Netflix
