Blue. Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 It’s what you get when you cancel great shows which built dedicated fanbases in favor of spur of moment hits that people will move on sooner rather than later (Elite, La Casa de Papel).
zoli90210 Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 No surprise. For the price of a Netflix 4K subscription, you can have Disney+ and HBOMax combined, with 4K in the base price. Not to mention they have much better catalogues. Netflix used to be good, but now it really doesn't worth it, and I don't see if they could ever provide a reason why I'd subscribe again.
PopKills Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Can anyone recommend a good Netflix series for me & my man? We have been watching series as dinner ritual for a year now but when the current one (Disentchantment) ends we have no clue what to watch next. We loved Crazy-Ex-Girlfriend, Grace & Frankie, Jane The Virgin & How To Get Away With Murder.
Starfish Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 There isn't anything interesting on there right now.
PennywiseTheClown Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 This was to be expected. There's such a surge in streaming services that the market is bound to get fragmented. To me Netflix still has the most interesting content. Stranger Things, F1 Drive to Survive, Dark, The Witcher, Squid Game and their bought shows like Peaky Blinders and Better Call Saul. I only have Disney+ for the Star Wars content. I'm trying out HBO Max but their content is so disappointing. I thought practically all WB stuff would be on there but the selection is quite limited. I also wanted to finish We Are Who We Are but it isn't even on there despite being an HBO production. I expect Netflix to grow again once the novelty of the newer services wears off.

May I ask who's that papi in your avi? ---------------------------- Well, add Hannibal to your WW catalogue and work on a 4th. season that will save you.
DevonRoars Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 only subscribed for my mom, but it's pretty **** atm. Paramount Plus >
Psylocke Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Probably every streaming service will eventually hit a ceiling in subscribers and stop growing.
midnightdawn Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 They blew so much money on Ryan Murphy type projects that were terrible. They should have invested in more interesting shows and even live events.
youreyesgocold Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Everyone rushing in here to say quality > quantity… I get it y’all but you’re wrong. They need both. When you aren’t a cable provider with a 3 year contract, people can choose to leave any month they want. If you drop 4 really good shows a year (one a quarter), users will subscribe for those four months, binge the shows they wanted to see, and immediately cancel. They need a long drip of content to keep people around. All of it needs to have brand recognition or quality to keep users happy. See Disney+ - they are using marvel and Star Wars brand recognition to keep adults around with basically a new series every 1-2 months. Also, they drip feed episodes weekly, which means if you want to binge their new shows you likely need to subscribe over 2 months or wait for the entire show to air, and then subscribe (but by then, another show will start so you might as well keep a subscription running). I’m not saying this is a better consumer model, but it’s better for Disney for sure because they keep subscribers locked in for more months.

Bang Up Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 (edited) Their content is not the problem, they have amazing shows and a fantastic catalog which is arguably the best and most expansive. Their problem is their price, $20 for the highest tier is absolutely ridiculous, and their business practices. They waste tons of money on things they shouldn't and don't invest in shows people actually love to see. They run this business so weirdly and I don't understand it. They need to focus on quality over quantity. 1 hour ago, youreyesgocold said: Everyone rushing in here to say quality > quantity… I get it y’all but you’re wrong. They need both. This is a good point, but they already do have quantity with their collection so their quality game needs to be upped. Edited July 18, 2022 by Bang Up
ATRL Moderator Bloo Posted July 18, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted July 18, 2022 The content isn’t the problem. It’s the price. The price hike is the most obvious problem with Netflix
Jude Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Poor dat. Chromatica Ball Tour film will save it, though.
DAP Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 They are subsidized by the US government. They aren’t going anywhere.
Harmonizer Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 The original content they keep is garbage, so this is not surprising.
FOCK Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 7 hours ago, teresaguidice said: netflix is still profitable despite it's recent setbacks (and generally bad content imo). no other streamer is yet. so their situation isn't as dire as is being made out to be. it's more a question of if they'll grow (from their already massive market share) and continue to have budget to burn on attracting A+ level talent and making awful $200M blockbusters that come and go in a weekend or finally plateau and make less content/spend with caution. This. The situation is being overblown. Netflix has been in the game the longest & I don’t think any of this has come as a surprise. They’ve also whethered bigger losses and storms, they’ll be just fine & the introduction of ads is going to be a big win for them.
Aelita Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 They deserve that and more for cancelling one of their best TV shows: The OA
EnoughSaid Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Netflix lost it, they should be capped at 15 a month including 4K. I only use it cause I have access from a family member. I only pay for HBO Max and Disney. Prime too but really it’s because of the delivery program but they have better content then Netflix

Gui Blackout Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Why are people acting like Netflix is in some type of Quibi situation They were bound to hit a ceiling at some point, and it was going to be now with the influx of other premium streaming services. Even if they're not as dominant as they were a few years ago, they still have a massive presence and that's not going away anytime soon - especially globally. They'll be fine.
