It's more like she's had to face heavy competition in her nominations. And now Adele again. There is a point to that it takes more effort to write all original songs than to find a sample and then build a song around it. By their own rules it should not be eligible for SOTY Either a rule change, a loophole (combining several songs into a cohesive one is considered new songwriting???), or Elton's team submitted and made FYC without knowing Grammys committee potentially deemed it ineligible. Those submissions are fake lol. Keep in mind First-Round voting is just in 2 days so her official ones will leak.
