THE LITTLE MERMAID is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton's daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life -- and her father's crown -- in jeopardy.

This will be a hit and if done right, could serve Lion King/Beauty and the Beast numbers or even more

They're bringing back the songs and this movie and Avatar 2 could be the underwater CGI equivalent of Alice in Wonderland and Avatar 1's 3D craze

And the anti-"woke"s will just keep fuming!

How does it get decided who gets to attend test screenings? Are they all media people?

It's gonna flop i fear

Disney classic remakes never flop, even when they desecrate the original. See: Maleficent.

No, just average moviegoers. They used to do this lots with the Harry Potter movies. Audiences would be invited through some newsletter or membership asking if they want to go to a test screening of an upcoming movie (without knowing the title). Then they give feedback and the filmmakers do what they want with it.

Maleficent was carried by Angelina Jolie's name and the hype that came with her being cast, besides, no one knew they were going to alter the story THAT much and make her the good person with a bad temper. I loved the movie but i was still disappointed with how the story was written, i'd rather have her be a villain just for the sake of it.

The Little Mermaid is my fave Disney so I have high hopes

regarding the fact that Ariel is a black woman, I don't care tbh but factually it doesn't really make sense since she's from Denmark

I do hope the CGI looks great and doesn't look like a Once Upon a Time episode

Unless this is literally godawful, like The Room level of bad, it will most likely not flop.

So far, none of the Disney live action remakes have been good, and yet none have flopped because of nostalgia.
