People care so much about the skin color of a fictional character. :toofunny2:

I don't get it either...

I've grown up with 99,9% white people around me, im white myself, Little Mermaid is sooo close to my heart -because it was my childhood favorite and I couldn't give a flying **** about her being black.

You know actually i'm happy about it, because of the representation.

There is the OG animated film and soooo many adaptations about the little mermaid that people can watch (that have a white lead) instead of crying about Ariel being played by a black actress.

The lighting is just too dark in the scenes shown in the teaser. I hope they up the saturation and brightness once it's released. I had to turn up full brightness on my computer to be able to see any kind of detail in the environment. The effects look unfinished as well, Ariel's movements look unnatural. Other than that, my only other complaint is the highlight all over her chest.... what is the point of that, especially when she's supposed to be underwater?

I'm still excited to see it on the big screen, Halle is gonna kill it. I'm so interested in seeing Melissa McCarthy's ursula.

In what way does she not look good though? Because she doesn't have stereotypical features? I feel people a so used to cookie cutter leads with barbie features, this is perfect casting for a more natural grounded vision. We need more diverse faces in movies.

They could of reddened her hair more but the artistic decision for a more natural copper which isn't going to impact the quality of the film

Her hair could be a lot more red, the mix of the lightning and make up looks like a mess. She could look a lot better.

This is only one scene so is hard to know how the rest of the movie looks like, also the scene is in a “dark” area so she might look a lot different in other parts of the movie.

Her voice is on a whole other level tho, by far the best choice.

This is probably the most expensive Disney remake to date lol

Not only do they have to spend the budget on a completely CGI'd underwater kingdom/world full of marine creatures, mermaids/mermen and a half-octopus witch, they also have to make a lavish human royal kingdom on land :dies:  Not to mention all the magic stuff

So I wouldn't be surprised if some of the CGI still end up looking wonky, there were already complaints about bad CGI in recent Marvel films so what more for this :rip:

The negative response by racists is going to be so vindicating when this becomes a box office smash and solidifies Halle as a star :jonny5:

Her hair DOES look redder with better lighting like who was in charge of the teaser cause :deadbanana:

It's giving flashbacks to when they first revealed Will Smith's Genie and everyone and their grandma clowned on the horrible unfinished CGI and rightfully so

I think the next trailer with the finished CGI and looks will get more doubters on board

Omg wow she really ate that!!!!  The full clip is beautiful

The leak looks good! But still her hair looks so dead so does everything, looks so dark.

I’m concerned about the character design for Sebastian though. That one is going to be tricky with any type of realism involved.

and I am dreading seeing Melissa as Ursula.

But Halle, my god, she looks and sounds STUNNING.

She sounds amazing.. my only issue is the lack of visuals. The environment looks so dark and unfinished. I’m hoping they’ll make it more vibrant by next year.

They all look promising in the trailer but it's disappointment when the movie comes out. I did not like The Lion King remake at all.

Halle sounds stunning in the leaked clip.

Halle will get lashings if the movie is not succesful. Disney should not play her like this. They should make new movie storylines instead of those remakes. I did not like any one of them.

To be honest, IMO most of the more memorable moments from the original movie are the underwater scenes. Almost everything in the second half of the movie feels sorta fuzzy to me and I honestly feel like contextually there is room for a lot to be done there to help give this movie its own legs, pun intended.

Prince Eric will definitely be given his own song, so there's that

Hated the additions in Beauty and the Beast though (the plague? a mess :rip: )

But Jasmine's expanded character arc and motivation were cute so we'll see

It'll probably have something to do with Eric's parents or Ariel's mom
