It was "exposed" the whole time - the problem was that what they were doing wasn't explicitly against the chart rules at the time. Billboard changed the rules afterwards because they realized how open their previous rules were to blatant manipulation, but they'll never retroactively change their previous charts. It would be like stripping One More Night by Maroon 5 of its weeks at #1 because Billboard was too slow to add YouTube views which caused Gangnam Style to get unfairly blocked. The chart was clearly an inaccurate measure of popularity then (like it was with Butter), but no rules were formally broken, so it'll unfortunately stay.

pride4jc1222 Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 As It Was may feel big to some, but if you take a deep dive into the metrics, it doesn't even look anywhere close to a long-running #1. If it gets the 10th week at #1, it will be the 7th time in those 10 weeks that AIW didn't even top any of the metrics. Plus, AIW only spent 2 weeks at #1 on streaming, 4 weeks at #1 on radio (2 of which AIW wasn't #1 on the Hot 100), and one week on sales (AIW wasn't #1 on the Hot 100 that week either). So, of the weeks AIW was #1 on the Hot 100, only 2 of them AIW was #1 on streaming (1st and 4th weeks at #1) and only 2 on radio (4th and 5th weeks at #1). AIW's metric breakdown looks like a song that spent 2-4 weeks at #1, not 9-10. I can't remember any other long-running #1 that didn't have at least one metric where they had a long run at #1, let alone one that spent more weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 than it did on all the metric charts combined.

slw84 Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 I hope Lizzo can snatch #1 song and #1 album next week

And the fact that HDD hasnt posted anything yet most likely means another week at #1 for Bad Bunny. They even posted on saturday last week to say that Brent Faiyaz had a chance at #1 Edited July 17, 2022 by simmnfierzig

The fact that One More Night had 10 weeks #1 and I've literally never in my life heard anyone mention that song, while Gangnam was one of the biggest and most remembered pop culture phenomenons of the decade The Hot 100 has been irrelevant for so long. It was 9 weeks and trust me, we were all complaining every single week about it All because YouTube wasn’t counted and radio refused to play it…still an annoying situation

JCsNumba1Fan Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Harry is swimming in success and some of y’all just have to cope. Blame yourselves for putting so much negativity in the universe during his debut era. Now he’s bigger than ever. Cope.
