JonginBey Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 (edited) A slasher/horror film that’s actually scary as hell and isn’t a remake, reboot, or sequel of an old one. Edited July 7, 2022 by JonginBey
Miles. Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 Original stuff in general. Everything nowadays is a reboot, sequel, prequel, or spinoff. A good comedy show that isn't a dramedy or constantly trying to tackle serious issues. A good horror show with a budget and good acting (so, not a teen show). And for me personally, a sci-fi Game Of Thrones. And by that I mean a sci-fi show with a huge budget, 20+ main characters, 5+ main storylines all intersecting and dispersing across a dozen locations. Politics, action, romance, betrayals, twists, shocking deaths, etc. I would love for this to be set in the Star Wars universe but I know Kathleen Kennedy doesn't have the balls, so...
Johnny Jacobs Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 Old school the wb/cw teen shows Those were iconic
its_britney_bitch Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I miss supernatural shows like Ghost Whisperer and Medium, and generally just monster of the week type shows (X-Files, Buffy, Charmed). Now everything has to focus be gritty and focus on the arc, but those shows kinda wove it into the stories they told every week. GW would drop hints and build tension to a huge season finale. I really miss that era of TV. I hope we get back to weekly viewing being more common than binging. I’m in the minority but I just don’t gaf for Stranger Things anymore after a 3 year break. And now everybody will forget about it for another 3! So many shows I haven’t bothered to continue watching because of this.

Not everything needs to be nuanced. This and shows that could have you on the edge of your seat but still have a fun camp vibe like Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty.

It seemed desperate to appeal to Gen Z, who are apparently allergic to fun.

Drowned8World Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 00s and early 10s rom-coms with A-list cast. Especially those made by Nancy Meyers. I don't know why she didn't sign a deal with Netflix yet. It's like the perfect place for her.

Phaunzie Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I really need a good high-fantasy show to feel satisfied. I am super satisfied with my futuristic shows like West World and Star Trek. I can't wait for the Lord of the Rings tv show.
Mr.Link Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Something, anything that stops the GP from being obsessed and brainwashed by comic book ****.

stophittingmedad Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 were missing a show similar to gilmore girls that isnt really 'about' anything besides a fun watch getting to know the characters and follow their lives. i get why there arent any because theres no hook to easily market them but i miss them. gilmore girls really built a world that you wanted to visit but most shows now dont capture that. also to everyone saying that you miss comedies should watch Hacks and The Other Two. those are the only 2 shows to make me lol recently
livelikemusic Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Smart, quality character-driven writing that goes beyond appeasing all, especially in American daytime. The 1990s were the peak and then by the 2000s, things just went genuinely downhill. Rare occasion you get an exception, but... yeah.

It's simply not enough. Sitcoms like that should be 22 episodes per season, getting only 10 per year is next to nothing.
ATRL Moderator feelslikeadream Posted July 8, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted July 8, 2022 There's been more gay content than ever, so not sure why that's come up so often here. BUT we need more **** in those shows
