bocelli Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 I dont know about you guys but I think The Conjuring has been pretty consistent and its definitely among the scariest movies, the jumpscares are well-done. Thoughts?

perfect blue Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 CREEP is kind of an underrated flop. Best found footage "franchise" for sure.

HungryByTheBuffet Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Elm street kinda holds up the best of the classics, almost all the sequels serve in one way or another. Scream ofc. Halloween competes for the title of WORSE for sure.
commander Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 I thought the the American adaptations of The Ring were very solid. Hellraiser, The Omen and The Exorcists are also among the best imo.
ShyGuy Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Child’s Play/Chucky is the most consistent to date. Halloween is iconic and constantly relevant. The new ones are hit or miss but JLC remains og Scream Queen. Scream is fun, unique and consistent too. Top notch. Those are the trifecta of horror classics. New classics maybe I would say REC, Paranormal Activity, The Conjuring. As in relevance, popularity and impact.
John Slayne Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 idk what y'all see in Conjuring, it's so boring to me my faves are The Sleepaway Camp and Friday the 13th
ShyGuy Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Texas Chainsaw Massage is a mess, only the original and the 2003 remake are worth it, everything else in between is various levels of ****. I would love to say Hellraiser but the Weinsteins ruined that one, I have high hopes on the new HBO show.

To be completely honest and knowing it’s not the popular opinion, 4 was ahead of it’s time, I truly enjoy that one. Even 5 takes on some similar topics and it works. 8 minutes ago, John Slayne said: my faves are The Sleepaway Camp The Sleepaway Cam is a riot, I have never felt a punch to the gut like that ending. It left me in shock for days!

zasderfght Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 Possibly Evil Dead? The first two movies are fantastic. The remake is just OK, but for it being a horror remake in the early 2010s, it absolutely could have been worse. And I have not seen Army of Darkness in quite some time, but I remember it actually being pretty good. Halloween has Halloween Kills, Halloween 5, 6, and Rob Zombie's Halloween movies. I think that says enough about it as a franchise lol Scream, Scream 2, and 5 are good. Scream 3 is outright terrible, and Scream 4 was pretty meh, honestly. Never really got into Final Destination, but Final Destination 3 was the only tolerable one for me, to be honest. And that is thanks to Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Paranormal Activity would've been a great horror franchise had the makers stopped at 3. I actually don't mind 4, but it was pretty unnecessary, and it opened the door to 5 and the Marked Ones. I hear the latest movie is terrible, too. As for Child's Play, from what I can remember, the third movie was pretty eh. Didn't care for Seed of Chucky at ALL, and I remember Bride of Chucky having a pretty stupid ending.
