I don’t think so. The hype from freebritney is gone. TikTok loves her classics but not so much her last few efforts. It was easy for her to debut high with iTunes but not with streams.

I’m not sure. Contrary to the narrative of Britney stans on this website, she has the same amount of #1s as Christina Aguilera. But I would like to think the hype would propel her to #1 for at least a week

Britney is long past her peak and her image has been tarnished by Team Conservatorship after 2008. She has declined after 2011 and we're now in 2022. Britney has not adjusted to streaming and many radios would probably be reticent to have her song on heavy rotation. this objectively is not true - Britney grabs nearly 25M monthly listeners and hasn't released a new album since 2016. Her streaming is actually pretty damn great all things considered, so I wouldn't say she "hasn't adjusted to streaming."

 

Not only that, but when Matches came out, it grabbed like 750K first day streams. For a track that came out of nowhere and obv was not promoted, that's a strong start. Whether the song is good or bad, I think what people are missing here is there will be a curiosity factor which will at least garner it strong streams in the beginning.

what is "her last few efforts"? she hasn't released an album in 6 years. S&S and WB are both strong stream performers, so her only last effort would be Glory, which again, all things considered, MM doing 125M on Spotify and SP doing 100M on YouTube are not bad stats (esp the latter since it was not promoted at all and had minimal radio airplay)

I completely disagree with your point of view lol. There’s no point in pretending Britney’s doing good on streaming and there’s nothing wrong admitting she isn’t, which is just normal as she has not been able to do anything post-Circus since team cons saboted everything.

 

She’s been in the industry for 24 years and has nothing to prove anymore so I also could not care less if her future music does good or bad tbh. We don’t even know if she’s ever gonna come back. It will just be a bonus for me.
