Cutthroat Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 When I saw the trailer it reminded me of a Nickelodeon show tbh, it just felt really childish so I haven’t bothered to give it a watch.
Psylocke Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 These numbers are abysmal considering Disney+ now has a lot more subscribers than it did back when Wandavision debuted

Nobody knows who this is, of course it’s not going to do the same numbers I think the reason the tweet compared to those two is because Wandavision and Hawkeye were the two lowest debuts before Ms Marvel. Moon Knight, also a completely brand new hero, had 1.8M viewers: https://www.google.com/amp/s/deadline.com/2022/04/moon-knight-first-weekend-viewership-1234994354/amp/ Edited June 18, 2022 by _Fey
Dancehall Queen Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 New character and no star power? Oscar Isaac did a lot for Moon Knight. Plus it doesn’t help that even the core audience it’s targeting is new.
loveisdead9582 Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 New character portrayed by a relatively unknown actress after the MCU retconned her powers with the promotion making it seem like a show aimed more at kids/teens. The first episode was cute but it did seem a bit cheesy at times.
LeMésTragique Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 She-Hulk is coming to snatch the record as the lowest viewed MCU from ha!
Chiidish Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Forgot about this, I will be watching to spite islamophobes tbh however looks like my 1 view may not save this show

AMX Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 The trailer and poster didn’t do a good job of pulling me in.
Taylena Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 That's just US viewership numbers. It's not shocking that US audiences didn't want to watch a show with primarily Pakistani Muslim characters. I'm sure it did a lot better worldwide than other Marvel Disney+ shows.

Not sure that's possible when Mark Ruffalo seems to have a substancial role in that show and Tatiana Maslany already has a considerable cult following from Orphan Black. There's also Tim Roth's Abomination, a possible appearance from Charlie Cox's Daredevil and actual hype for the female Hulk.
Gorjesspazze9 Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 (edited) She is a Brand New Muslim Teenage Girl In the MCU. On the bright side, Marvel stats say Ms. Marvel has the strongest viewership of 20-24 year old of any of thier shows. Making this a Gen Z centric sucess. Disney knows how to hook the young people. so by the time Ms. Marvel shows up in the movies, she will have a dedicated fan base online. And to be honest, this show has one of the better debut episodes, and consistently may end up as one of Disney+ most stable shows. Edited June 18, 2022 by Gorjesspazze9

But apparently Ms Marvel dropped the same day as some Star Wars show which got much better ratings

publikcitizen Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 It’s such a great show! It’s getting really good and I’m excited for the next episode as it will really start getting into the lore. You guys are missing out! And yes there is already a connection to the MCU. The Department of Damage Control will play a big role in this show.
Jotham Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Islamophobia from incels, I'm not surprised I also wonder if part of it has to do with competition from Kenobi. I know a lot of people who are already preoccupied with watching Kenobi that they haven't seen this show yet. I don't understand the complaints that it's too kiddy, it has the same vibes as the Spider-Man movies and those don't get as many complaints from people.
Nicholai Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 It being released the same day as a new Obi Wan episode was a bad decision tho.

mcstacia Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 People are still using Samba numbers? They had Moon knight tied for second. When the Nielsen numbers came out it was the lowest viewed of all the marvel live actions shows. I’ll wait for those numbers to get a better comparison.
Blue. Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Not surprised. I was actually not going to watch it because it didn’t look that interesting (too teeny-bopper) and a lot of my friends were in the same page, it was not until one of them gave in and started saying that it was kinda great that I gave in and good thing I did because it is so fun. I like it better than Loki and Moon Knight tbh.
Cheers Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 2 episodes in and it hasn’t been any good. But tbh no Marvel show has been

Just a few of my guesses This + the comic book character doesn't have a big fanbase to begin with (that's why they're rebooting her story every few years). The show is lowkey one of the best things Marvel Studios have come with so far, if only people got past their prejudices and watched at least the first episode they'd love it too.

Docter Strange 2 made more then anything marvel studios put out in 2 years, excluding Spider-Man. And they had 2 hit shows with Wanda and Loki and co-produced one of the biggest movies of all time just 7 months ago. NWH Edited June 18, 2022 by Gorjesspazze9
