Blue Monday Posted September 29, 2022 Posted September 29, 2022 Ana deserves her flowers because she truly went for it. But wow, this thing was absolutely degrading and miserable. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie this repulsive
Da Vinci Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 The most disrespectful "biopic" I've ever seen No wonder the spirit of Marilyn was on set "throwing things at the wall"
James_Dean Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Ana is terrific in this, but the film itself is an awful mess... I'm dumbfounded over the whole thing
Dark Phoenix Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 One of the most gruesome and nasty films I’ve ever seen. It’s in the middle of cheap porn and a SNL sketch, with weird use of filters and effects and switching between full color, B&W and exposure up to 200%. Miss Marilyn deserved way better and was done nasty here, and the acting besides Ana is kinda weak, the lazy screenplay didn’t help. The baby serving anti-abortion republican ad, the poli relationship, the lazy wig job with the visible lace front… and there’s no cute score, cinematography or even beautiful costumes she was wearing the same pattern pants and black blouses or topless one third of the film. Seriously the worst film this year, I even felt bad for Ana but work is work I guess, between this and Deep Water she tanked this year.
Dom Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 The most gross thing about this film is the fake abortion storyline. When everyone around Marilyn knew she wanted to be a mother and was a wreck when had a miscarriage. How they allowed to exploit person like this?
FameFatale Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 The movie was a snooze fest. I had to watch it in 1.5x to make it through I didn't HATE the movie, but it was pretty rough. Ana's acting was great and she deserved better. I honestly would've loved to see this film go a different way, almost like the Elvis movie from the point of view from Col Tom. I feel like i'm the only one who actually didn't mind the cinematography and b&w into color scenes. Some of the shots were beautiful.
livelikemusic Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Visually, this film was beautiful. And Ana de Armas did a wonderful job with an otherwise sh*t script. But, yes, the script and story were the major issues with this so-called "film." This film is everything Marilyn Monroe asked herself not to become, and it's a shame.
Donquizote Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Marilyn is trending on twitter I know AMPAS won't touch this movie, but hoping for Ana to at least get Globe nomination
Sharapov Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 honestly it says a lot about ana that she decided to play this horrid movie. after the ben affleck mess and this its obvious she's completely desperate to be a star

Versayce Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Ana superb (as always). The cinematography is beautiful, and the music too. But the film is a total humiliation to Marilyn. The recreation of the photo of her dead in bed is so disgusting.
Gottasadae Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 This movie is such a disrespectful trash, screenwriter deserves electric chair for this clownery The only good thing about this mess is Ana, I feel sorry for her because she is very believable as Marilyn.

With a better score and edit, maybe combine some scenes into a fast montage. The last half feels repetitive, so many abortions, pills, basically portrayed her as crazy which is the first role she auditioned for. I liked the circle analogies but it didn’t hit as much. The daddy letters weren’t really explained were they? Anas acting was incredible. She should get a nomination even though the movie was ehhh. Well Emily Blunt received some noms with The Girl On The Train besides the movie being panned so I can see Ana getting some noms -she deserves tho-
Mamamo Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Why all the lashings in here? I thought it was a very realistic way of portraing Marilyn's life. Especially in that era, Harvey Weinstein type **** in hollywood is not new. She was obviously a very used and abused woman, as a lot of young women in Hollywood were and still are. People denying that are very naive. And i liked how they represented her dissociative state of mind throughout the entire movie and made you feel confused at times like her. That scene of her in front of the mirror becoming Marilyn was key and very disturbing.
X~MoviePoP Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Young britney looks more like marilyn than ana but ana does resemble Marilyn a bit...but the accent was bad. Movie is a mess A 4/10
Mandalay Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 I hope Marilyn's estate sues the director's ass.
i spit on haters Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 The director, Andrew Dominik, HATES Marilyn. That recent interview he gave about this egregious movie is WILD. He clearly detests and thinks very little of women in general, but the antipathy he has for Marilyn is quite jarring seeing as how he spent 10 years to get this movie made. And that was the final product, lol.

Machete Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Am I only one who found the movie pretty tame? With the critic reviews and GP lashes I expected some next-level disgusting content, but I really don't see how it even got the NC-17 rating It's just her breasts? Even the r*pe scenes don't show anything direct so I get the arguments for it being trauma p*rn, but I think it's just them showcasing the "reality" (with a lot of imagination for effect) of how hard her life was. I do NOT see at all how this was "shaming her" when the entire film sympathizes makes you feel nothing other than deep deep sympathy Writing was really wonky though. It went off the rails with pacing after the miscarriage scene. Overall, it's a decent effort. I applaud it for doing something different. 3.5/5.
Reverse Warholian Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 The lashings See when you do OIFHery @The Witch
Dark Phoenix Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 I’m still having nightmares of the bj scene ?? Also this:
Phonography Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Gosh this movie was so ghetto they deserve the lashings
Mandalay Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 And the actress looks like Ariana Grande if she would emulate Marilyn
Negev Posted October 1, 2022 Posted October 1, 2022 Weird feelings about this, had to skip a lot of scenes because they were disturbing. Marilyn deserved better, not only in life but also this exploitation of her image over the years is horrifying. She was a good actress and a fashion icon who's troubled life tossed her over the edge. 9 hours ago, Versayce said: Ana superb (as always). The cinematography is beautiful, and the music too. Is that the final shot of the movie where her "spirit" is hugging the pillow? Overall between this and the Jeffrey Dhamer show it's like the entertainment industry nowadays is trying to one up another on who's more vile.
