EdgeofTeeth Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Annihilation affected me more profoundly than any movie I've ever seen just because it's SO existential, I had a small panic attack after watching it

SitarHero Posted June 2, 2022 Posted June 2, 2022 Well there's the big shock factor ones like Serbian Film, Cannibal Holocaust, Salo, Tusk - all def ****** me up Then there's the really uncomfortable viewing experiences like Climax, Irreversible, Requiem For a Dream - each took a year or so off my life Kids, Possum - skin-crawling Come and See was absolutely brutal I have to throw in for Megan is Missing. Unlike everything else I listed it's a TERRIBLE movie and I think its creator is likely a sick **** instead of some edgelord

I've been so on the fence with watching it or not

Like some of the movies people are listing are creepy or good for a scare but this one gives a really negative and sad overall tone to its creepiness that you just can't help but feel. It's a bit boring at times though Speaking of boring but disturbing, I forgot to mention Begotten

I haven't seen the Human Centipede because I expected it to be on the nose disturbing and disgusting, but I was really NOT prepared for Hereditary. The movie is not scary per se, but it mixes dread, sadness and hopelessness all in one, which is why it stuck with me for a long time. I regret seeing it to be honest, I've seen so many horror movies and could sleep just fine after, but not this one. Haven't seen Midsommar but I don't think I will since it's probably just as disturbing as Hereditary

Haven't seen Midsommar but I don't think I will since it's probably just as disturbing as Hereditary yesss! i was shocked at how one of the most unsettling parts of such a demonic movie was just watching how the completely heinous traumatic event at the beginning drives their family apart purely through grief, resentment, and anger I watched it with my friend at his apartment and seriously considered spending the night on his couch because neither one of us wanted to sleep in our homes alone that night lmao. and we were both in our mid-twenties I definitely avoided Midsommar for a while as well because of how f-ed up Hereditary was i did end up getting around to it though, and while it definitely was still overtly disturbing and distressing, it didn’t seem to effect me nearly as much as Hereditary. like it was MESSSED up but I was still able to sleep that night after watching lol.

kyliefever2002 Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 "climax" made me feel very uneasy throughout the whole movie and also kinda nauseous, i think it had something to do with the soundwaves or something, but yeah that was pretty unsettling "martyrs" was also pretty mindf* also it didnt really "disturb" me but "a serbian film" clearly only has scenes made just for shock value and tbh it just made it completely lose any type of value for me, its just an awful movie through and through, but i can imagine many people would be disrtubed by the scenes and lastly "120 days of sodom", now that one was just VERY unsettling, i couldnt not think about it for days and whenever i did i just felt very... bad, that was really disturbing to me personally
