NoAngelus Posted October 26 Posted October 26 Couplet - Loyalty - Sleep Tight episode run in S3 of Angel is just wow I completely forgot how dark and insane some things were The father will kill the son prophecy, Angel being poisoned with the blood of his baby son, Wesley going rogue The fact that relationship between Angel and Wesley never changed for better after this episode. They really said f*** casual watchers at the time and focused on heavy serialized story for the fans. I don't know if you young people here understand how extraordinary it was to have this serialized show back in early 00s. No one was doing *** like them. And the fact that they went even further with S4. So much to take, such an amazing serialized show. And while watching S3 of Angel I keep thinking of S3 of Buffy where everything was so much fun and camp even when bad things happened, I do understand now why Buffy fans don't like Angel, they really are two completely different shows. And I love the fact that i ADORE both of them for different reasons. 2

Johnny Jacobs Posted October 28 Posted October 28 I tried it out for the first time. Oh wow. Its a show from the nineties so i didn't expected much but it's unwatchable. The bad acting, the bad action sequences, the monster makeup I just can't. It aged like milk

Gorjesspazze9 Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Season 1 Finale also is amazing Buffy's iconic Dress with the leather jacket & Crossbow!! I think my favorite S1 episode other then the finale would be episode 3 the witch. That's when I think the series really starts handing the highschool is hell metaphor well. Next is probably Angel, David looked so fine.

On my recent rewatch I enjoyed it a lot more than Seasons 4, 5 and 7. I don't know if it's because I finally rewatched network show after years of watching crappy streaming shows trying to adjust to current world.
NoAngelus Posted October 29 Posted October 29 (edited) Anyway I don't think we ever talked about David's acting and how much he improved in Angel. His range in Angel is really underrated. Just like Sarah was underrated as actress during Buffy I feel like David was too because of his looks and 'wb show' stigma... While he shined as Angelus in S2 of Buffy, he really reached his full potential in Angel, I'm on my 3rd watch and ofc I know everything that happens but the fact I believed him once again that he was gonna forgive Wesley only for him to try to kill him like that. That meltdown in hospital was amazing acting from him. When he tells Wesley that he is Angel and not Angelus and Wesley doesn't realizes why Edited October 29 by NoAngelus
StarsAllAligned Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Maybe the user is watching the HD version which makes everything look worse than it actually is

butterflymimi Posted October 30 Posted October 30 I love season one also, sometimes you've just got to watch things for what they are. I finished another re watch of Buffy the other night and I still find the ending really satisfying I will truly always be a sucker for this show lol. I'm going to watch angel for the first time soon 1
SharGaga Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Just finished Buffy a few days ago. I l loved it and watched for a few months. I'm on the fence whether I'm gonna watch Angel. I tried What We Do In The Shadows but the vampires are ugly so that's kind of jarring. I've watched TVD, True Blood, IWAV, Teen Wolf. I've been thinking about The Originals, Prison Break or Sons Of Anarchy. I've seen most shows already so I've been looking at older stuff since last year. 1

You should have watched Angel starting with Buffy season 4. They crossed over for two seasons when they were both still on the WB (before Buffy moved to UPN). Edited October 30 by Inverted 1

It was in ads when the show aired and also it's heavily referenced in Buffy. In one episode at the end of season 4, Buffy returns from LA to confront Angel about helping Faith. Riley finds out where she went is upset with her (and the Initiative drug withdrawal is making him feel worse). Angel follows her back to Sunnydale and apologizes to Buffy for how things left off (they argued at the end of the Angel episode when she confronted him in LA).

I did not come into Buffy until the WB finale in season five. I was seven, lmao. I'm aware of everything else, lmao.

That's actually when I started the show too and I was 10. My parents wouldn't let me watch the show before that so I just watched the ads when they aired and pretended I saw the whole episodes in school when kids talked about it.
