one of them is going disappoint 

 

But i believe LOTR will be bigger for multiple reasons:

 

-It's for the first time on tv

-Lord of the rings film series is iconic

-The huge budget 

-Game of thrones ended so badly the gp will take that into thought.

LOTR me thinks. It's never been a TV show before. I believe GP will eat that up although i somehow believe most of them will be disappointed

House of the Dragon will flop without dignity after what they did to GoT

I think it depends on how good “The Ring of Power” ends up being. I think there’s enough buzz around HOD where it will be successful. But I don’t see it being as successful as GOT due to the criticism of the ending.

Based on fan reception and HBO's track record alone, I'd say "House of the Dragon" will be bigger, and also better.  George RR Martin himself is involved instead of GOT's showrunners, and based on what we've seen and heard so far, they aren't diverting from the tone of the world that the fans already love.  Most importantly, "House of the Dragon" is a complete story and therefore won't have a rushed ending like GOT.  These details have renewed the interest of a lot of GOT fans and they are willing to give the franchise a second chance.

 

Meanwhile a lot of LOTR fans are not pleased with "The Rings of Power" and it is on Amazon Prime.

I trust Hbo to serve quality over amazon but I am very excited for both.

i'm more excited for lotr but it has the potential to be both the bigger success or the bigger flop

there are more people anticipating it so if the first few eps ends up being panned or alienating the original fanbase it will probably get bigger reactions and the entire season will flop. i really hope that's not the case but from what we've seen so far it looks that way

 

house of the dragon looks pretty good so far and i feel it will be a sleeper hit like the original show

GOT was my favorite series EVER but the last two episodes were horrible so much so that it makes me sick to see the series again, so I bet on LOR series

Even if the writing disappoints, I think Ring of Power will still do well commercially based on hype alone.

I think House of the Dragon will do better because HBO is in a mucher better position when it comes to how reliable their shows have been (except for GOT). 

But of course, GOT was such a disappointing show at the end that maybe everyone will turn on them.

I will watch both. But based on Wheel of Time and what Amazon did to it, I think Rings of Power will flop. HBO is always known to produce quality and GOT only flopped after the 5th season when they overtook Martin’s writing so House of the Dragon will probably serve quality again if the story is already done. I’m excited for both!

Ring of Power  got a lot of backlash for including POC characters so I don't think it is going to do well.

House of the Dragon will be bigger. Based on the trailer though, I wonder why the technology isn't more primitive if it's set centuries before GOT.

the last two seasons of GoT kinda ruined the franchise for many people. Rings of Power will be bigger in my opinion
