The Rainbow Index which measures pro-LGBT laws was released recently and Malta once again slayed the competition.

They had 88% when this was posted and now have 91% as of September 1st 2017 when their same-sex marriage law came into effect.

This list measures protections, asylum, processes for transitioning, adoption rights and of course marriage/partnership laws.

Norway moved up to 2nd (78%) because it made transitioning easier while UK is held back a bit by Northern Ireland :rip: They're 3rd with 76%.

Here's a chart of what ILGA takes into account for these ratings, using Liechtenstein as an example:

I could only find a small pic of the updated list of criteria so check the websites out.

To check out each country individually, see this page https://rainbow-europe.org/

Here is Malta's page: https://rainbow-europe.org/#8647/0/0 - make sure to exit that white box that appears.

Thoughts?

Eurovision impact or just a fad? :gaycat2:

If NI was on our level we'd be even higher :deadbanana3:

Not surprising for Malta.  It's a small European island with a small population, so the Human Rights laws tend to be more flexible.

Sweden is only 60%?? I thought it would be one of the highest.

Its quickly changing demographics have made it a less safe place for LGBT people and women, unfortunately

How is Netherlands not 100%? They were the first in the world to legalize gay marriage.

Doesn't this look at legal legislation? What do refugees have to do with it?
