Gwendolyn Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 (edited) Pop’s diner is closing its doors for good: Riverdale will end its run on The CW at the conclusion of its upcoming seventh season, TVLine has learned. Riverdale was renewed for Season 7 in March, along with fellow CW dramas The Flash, All American, Superman & Lois, Walker, Kung Fu and Nancy Drew. Season 6 is currently airing Sundays at 8/7c; Season 7 is being held for midseason, to air sometime in 2023. (To see The CW’s just-released fall 2022 schedule, click here.) This TV season (which includes three Season 5 stragglers), Riverdale is averaging 560,000 total viewers with Live+7 DVR playback factored in. It thus ranks No. 16 in total audience out of the 19 dramas The CW has aired this fall and winter, outdrawing only The Outpost, In the Dark and Dynasty. Riverdale joins a number of CW dramaRiverdale joins a number of CW dramas on the chopping block: The network also axed Dynasty, Charmed, Naomi, 4400, In the Dark and Roswell, New Mexico last week — In the Dark and Roswell still have new seasons premiering this summer — along with the previously cancelled Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow. The CW’s atypical “bloodbath” of cancellations this season is likely due to the network’s rumored upcoming sale (perhaps to the Nexstar affiliate group) and thus its uncertain future. https://tvline.com/2022/05/19/riverdale-cancelled-ending-season-7-cw/ Edited May 19, 2022 by Gwendolyn
Pop Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Should have ended after Season 3. Bring on Pretty Little Liars: The Original Sin
schnetzka Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 At least it'll have a proper conclusion compared to a lot of the canceled shows on the network.
TheCal Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 @Insanity well you were right that 7th season is going to be the last one
Totami Legend Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 I can see people demanding a new season in 2032. Nostalgia will hit hard the haters
Joesuxx Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Always wanted to get into this but the kids singing like Glee has put me off. Does the music feature heavily?

It’s just one episode per season where they reference and do their own version of a well-known musical. The rest are “normal” (and I air quoted the normal for reasons) non musical episodes. the show should put you off for other reasons lol
HungryByTheBuffet Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 It is the best thing on television but it's the right time to end.

Theres plenty of episodes with out any musical numbers lol Once in a while there may be one but its at the club/ casino and its usually short then there were entire musical episodes but it was 1 per season

Into The Void Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Quote “I am a big believer in attempting to give series that have had long runs an appropriate sendoff,” CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz said during an executive call Thursday. where was that energy for Dynasty and Legends????

Mean Trees Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 The CW's only iconic moments were Gossip Girl and Kat Graham's show (I don't even remember the name and I watched neither but whatever). That merger between UPN and WBN was such a microaggression. Everything since has been nonsensical.
hardbrit Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Shocked it still airs. It became so embarrassing and stupid after season 2
Harmonizer Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 I wonder if every cast member will be back. Normally there are 6-year contracts when signing on to a show
