Hector Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Leading out of Weakest Link (1.9 mil/0.3), NBC’s broadcast of the Billboard Music Awards slipped to new lows of 2.1 mil/0.5. https://tvline.com/2022/05/16/ratings-the-rookie-season-4-finale-chenford-kiss/ It's EXACTLY what they deserve for trying to humanize Travis Scott & Morgan Wallen.
LastKiss Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Award shows are DEAD People are not here anymore to watch rich individuals get prizes for doing the bare minimum
Selegend Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Selena’s Saturday Night Live made way more noise than this award show this weekend
Feanor Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 It's kinda so sad that all these award shows are dying, because I used to be such a big fan of awards shows, but they really aren't that exciting anymore and the weak performers lineup doesn't help either Streaming really killed them as these big promotional stops they used to be, when a performance could boost a song significantly. Besides the Grammys, the VMAs (for its rich pop culture history) and maaaaybe the AMAs (because they happen right before the holiday season), there really is no need for any other music awards show anymore.
Anomaly Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Maybe people would watch if the show actually included anything worth watching
gustavothehuman Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 That's a lot considering the line-up and how the BMAs has always been the most boring and predictable award. The truth is that only the Grammys kind of matter these days.
Rev8 Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 It was really a non-event I didnt even know it was happening no hype at all lol but the concept of data and charts for the awards is a bit for the new gen I guess (that and watching tv) +the performers ofc
Scandalous Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 (edited) AleXa cancelled performance, no ratings Edited May 16, 2022 by Scandalous

byzantium Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Award shows died when they refused to make them available to stream. Their ratings died and artists found little need to attend them...which only hurt ratings more.
alejandreaux Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 even as a semi-regular user of a pop music forum, i literally had no idea they were happening until it was already airing and i just happened to see some tweets about it here and there
Walk_Away21 Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 LOL. That's what they get for letting Travis Scott perform.
Bloodflowers. Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 Lmao even one small and local country in Europe had more viewers for Eurovision than this. Shakira should've went to Italy instead to promote her new single!
