Westworld | Season 4 released June 26th

Trying to clarify this season in my mind. So we have four possible timelines happening concurrently this season.

#1 Maeve and Stubbs - 7 years after the events of S3

#2 Man in Black, Clementine, and evil Charlotte Hale - Not sure when this takes place, but I think it’s before the storyline with Maeve and Stubbs?

#3 Bernard and Stubbs - We don’t know how long Bernard has been in “robot heaven”

#4 Christina and possibly Teddy - No idea when or where this takes place. Or why Dolores is now Christina.

Just thinking about this is giving me a headache. If this is true, wouldn’t Stubbs have to look a lot older? Especially if more than 7 years have passed.

Stubbs is a host.. haha. We found that out at the end of season 2

This is an excellent return to form for the show.

Timelines in my opinion:

Immediately after S3
Caleb/Maeve/Host William/Hale/Bernard/Stubbs
Caleb and Maeve participate in the riots/war against the control of humans from AI. During this time they have at least one interaction with Host William. From the flashbacks we see them destroying a backup or some other version of Rehoboam at a lighthouse. Something happens with Caleb in this event that he forgot and Maeve is keeping from him. She has been having flashbacks to that specific moment where he is bleeding after the lighthouse several times. Bernard is in the Sublime and Stubbs is keeping him safe.

7 years after S3
Caleb/Maeve/Host William/Hale

We know it has been 7 years since the riots/war at the end of S3 and Caleb's daughter is 7. William buys out the land and Hale starts the fly project, they assume control of the US government. Host William launches the Golden Age park in the land that he bought out.

Some time after that Caleb and Maeve are targeted and begin their quest to find out what is happening. Hale's fly project is in full development and Caleb and Maeve find themselves in the Golden Age park. They see an early version of the sound machine that controls humans through the black goo planted by the flies.

23 years after S3
16 years after previous events

Bernard/Stubbs/"C"

(We know from the HBO Max tweet that was deleted and then the description changed that Bernard woke 23 years after entering the Sublime.)
This places the events of Bernard and Stubbs 16 years after what Caleb and Maeve are experiencing. The apocalypse has happened and whatever Caleb and Maeve attempted has failed, leading to Host William and Hale controlling humanity with the flies.

The group that Bernard and Stubbs encounter are the people living outside of the cities where the controlled humans live. There is a good chance that the mystery woman that Bernard and Stubbs meet with is Caleb's daughter Frankie grown up as the timeline would match and her identity is hidden behind the "C" credit in the episode credits. We also know Frankie and her mother escape capture.

The weapon that they are trying to find is most likely located in the ruins of the Golden Age park that Caleb and Maeve visit 16 years before, as we see C's truck parked in the sandy ruins near the Temperance bar in the flashforward visions that Bernard sees in the Sublime.

? in the Far Future
Fidelity William/Host Emily

The flashforward from the post credits scene of S2 shows us a Fidelity version of William waking up in the ruins of Westworld and is met by Host Emily.

???? ???? ???? ????
Christina
The only character that is very unclear in all of this is Christina. We know that this is set after Hale gains full control of humanity with her flies and has a full tower set up with a massive sound control device from it. Which is what homeless person hears and sees in New York. From the trailers we know that Hale appears in this Future New York and that Caleb appears in it as well after he is captured.

Then again this could be right after the events of 7 years after 23 years after and Caleb was kept in stasis like the real William is.

The weapon Bernard, Stubbs and C are looking for could be Caleb, a reconstruction of Dolores through Christina or William.

this makes a lot of sense! i need to watch that post credit scene again because i don't remember it at all. christina is definitely the biggest unknown variable in all of this.

wait so Christina is in the far future? in a world were people are controlled by the flies/sound control and people might be "waking up" like the hosts did in S1&2 realising they have no control of their actions? :WAP:

I don't understand what a fidelity is?

The fidelity tests are done to human/host hybrids to test how accurately they represent their original human counterparts. Essentially to see how identical they can copy human minds into hosts. William shut down the test/program in season 2 because the test kept failing on James Delos, he couldn't get past the point of learning that he is a host and would always glitch/malfunction/go insane once he found out. So I'm assuming Hale has finally perfected the process of carbon copying a human on Caleb!

This is so lowkey creepy. So it's not really Caleb, but a clone?

Well he's essentially a perfect copy of his human mind, but in a host body. Remember James Delos's whole mission with this was to achieve immortality. So it does go back to the question of "if you can't tell the difference, does it matter?", like what really makes Caleb, Caleb? His mind or his body?

Gotcha, it's been awhile so I will have to watch that part again.

Not really.. unless you watch some youtube video explaining all of s3 first.

I know it was explained already but fidelity means faithfulness. So they are testing how faithful or true a copy/host is to the original
