Kendrick uses F-slur in song

I think it’s being misinterpreted. He sounds apologetic for being ignorant and homophobic in the past. But also he’s not the type to shy away from saying a word just because it’s offensive. I can obviously understand why queer people don’t want to hear a straight person saying ***, but I really don’t think he’s being discriminatory or anything.

All this will do is make his listeners feel more comfortable using the word :angelo:

No his listeners will actually listen to the message of the song instead of cherrypicked lyrics on a forum.

I really don't think he's homophobic but it doesn't make it ok. It also isn't outrageous that people are offended.

I mean if a white person used racial slurs for storytelling purposes on a sing, they WOULD be on blast... I don't see how this is different :celestial5:

I mean, if we were to compare the periods of time and the context then
But I digress

As a transgender woman I am beyond happy with the song

Kendrick's music isn't something you can look at on the surface level. His use of words is deliberate and meaningful. It doesn't surprise me a predominantly white forum wants to tear him down but looking forward to y'alls fumes when he breaks streaming records

I know you mentioned song but do you know how many movies exist where white people use racial slurs throughout the entire film? :rip:

He shouldn’t use the word but it’s okay given the context of the song, he’s condemning his former ignorance.  Still, repeating the word 3 times in a song doesn’t actually… do anything.  Like, I don’t have pity.

So why does he keep using he/him pronouns for his trans cousin in the song?

It's about a transgender female to male............. :toofunny2:

Maybe if you listened to the song

Acknowledging your former ignorance in using the word by using the word :rip:

I get that a rapper of his position making a pro-LGBT song / message is great… but like why say the slur? Bc ik damn well his straight fans gon feel real comfortable saying it.

Do you dense *** really not understand the pro-LGBT+ message of the song or-

He is literally pointing out his own ignorance in using the term when he was younger.

Half of you probably stan Cardi and her actual homophobe of a husband anyway..

A rapper on his level, making a pro-LGBTQ+ song, with the type audience he has, is kind of a big deal. Meanwhile, here's ATRL finding a way to turn it into a negative.

If you actually listen to the song and understand its meaning this dumb outrage wouldn’t happen.

I’m not gonna tell anyone to not to be offended, everyone has different sensitivities, but for me… I’m not offended. Especially given the context of the song’s lyrics and message.

Meanwhile some users in this very thread stan female artists who’ve said *** with a negative connotation but lets act woke to this…. :rip:
