Netflix on Wednesday announced that the How I Met Your Mother vet’s new comedy Uncoupled will premiere Friday, July 29. In addition, the streamer dropped a teaser (embedded above).

Created by Darren Star (Sex and the City, Younger, Emily in Paris) and Jeffrey Richman (Modern Family, Frasier) and consisting of eight half-hour episodes, Uncoupled follows Harris’ newly single Michael, who “thought his life was perfect until his husband,” hedge-fund manager Colin (The Boys in the Band‘s Tuc Watkins), “blindsides him by walking out the door after 17 years,” according to the official logline. “Overnight, Michael has to confront two nightmares: losing what he thought was his soulmate and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-forties in New York City.”

Rounding out the cast are Tisha Campbell (Martin) as Michael’s business partner Suzanne; Emerson Brooks (The Last Ship) as TV weatherman Billy; Brooks Ashmanskas (The Good Lord Bird) as art dealer Stanley; and recurring guest star Marcia Gay Harden (The Morning Show) as Upper East Side socialite Claire.

Sold on everything, this is right up my alley :jonny5:

I'll be tuning in. It's about time for his return to television. Also, lol at the writers wanting their Carrie Bradshaw moment with those roses.

This looks fun. We don’t get much stories about middle/older aged gay men so I’ll be watching.

I loved this! It really is the perfect gay male version of Sex & The City with Michael based on Carrie and Billy based on Samantha. Tisha Campbell was fabulous as Suzanne and I loved Marcia Gay Harden in this too. So refreshing to watch in the age of monkeypox at free moment.  I SO hope this gets a season 2 based on the cliffhanger.

Spoiler

When that dermatologist genuinely wanted to botox Michael's ******* to get a better f**k, I screamed :ahh: The Tom Of Finland-esque episode was fun too.

The array of hot guys Michael went through between the opening and ending of the series :jonny5: Gilles Marini in particular :jonny5:

That young twink who tried to age shame Michael after not wanting to screw with condoms :rip:

Neil Patrick Harris' husband David Burtka's character showing up to try to sleep with Stanley so that he could feature his artwork in the museum. :ahh: Very sad when Stanley was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end, reminded me of when Samantha got it in Sex And The City.

This.

The way NPH constantly got hit on by men out of his league when in reality none of the NYC gays would look his way :toofunny3:

It's on my watchlist. Since Darren Star is producing this, I think it will go well.

Says more about the audience though. People are going to be more likely to watch a show with attractive people. The lead character is the relatable one and the love interests are the eye candy for viewers.
