The way you're still fuming about this being a massive box office success. :jonny5: We love to see it.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (Dis) 4,534 theaters, Fri $16.7M (-81%)/3-day $60M-$65M (-65% to -68%)/Total $290.9M-$295.9M/Wk 2

Great hold, anything under 70% is a win

Saturday increase wasnt quite as expected, looking like a $25.8M Saturday, well behind Civil War ($31.5M) and Batman ($28M). Unless Disney fudges, this might not hit $60M this weekend.

2nd highest-grossing movie of the year!

$1B worldwide is probably not happening. $400m domestic might be dead also. Not me thinking my prediction of $1.2B was on the lower end :deadbanana2:

$688 Million before the 2nd weekend has even finish tracking?and y’all saying it won’t hit 1 billion and calling it a flop.

It’s making nearly 700 million in its 2nd weekend. :ace:Still has 2 weeks of summer before another blockbuster. It will hit 1.08 billion before June

still pretty good considering it’s without China IMO.

I think what’s happening with its legs is that it’s playing like more of a solo/standalone sequel with Strange/Wanda rather than the Endgame level follow-up to NWH which brought all the people overly hyped by the promotional campaign and cameo rumors to the theatres on OW, inflating it. Should stabilize soon IMO.

Yeah it's literally not an Avengers level movie or even NWH level, if you look at like that, it's doing fine. Especially when compared to the first DS.

It wont gross 1 billion WW after all the hype :doc: Guess word of mouth has not been kind.

Wanda will join Carol as a billion dollar female character. And we will love to see it :duca:

Good analysis. Very true too.

Next weekend should be better (it needs to be if it wants to have any shot at $1B)

Also @Gorjesspazze9that number is the final wknd estimate. It includes Sunday grosses. Actuals could go up or down a couple mill.

But after a $143M global weekend, it still needs to make another $312M to get to a billion with major competition arriving in two weeks. Tough ask tbh.

That’s fair. It’s still will hit over 800 million globally by the end of this week

Deadline projecting it will miss the billion mark:

The sequel has edged the global lifetime of the first Doctor Strange ($678M) and looks headed to a final above $900M (say, $925M-$950M), and that’s without Russia or China in the mix. So, maybe not the $1B that might have been sensed off of last weekend’s better-than-projected opening.

The way people are painting it as a flop while it doing nearly $700m in two weeks. :rip:

This is no Spider-Man, these characters have been c list Marvel characters for decades. Spidey has been top tier for the same amount. A mess of a comparison.

The film was a mess, Wanda deserved a better movie. Word of mouth has definitely been very mixed and well yeah it’s not going to pull 1 Billion, not all Marvel fills reach the Benchmark either.

The movie is doing great, I mean it's basically outgross the first DS movie and let's take into consideration that this won't get numbers from China & Russia which are big markets.

Joker managed to get 1billion without China. There's no excuse for a movie not to gross 1 billion without China. I guess when you do talentry :cm:
