Spidey, Strange and Wanda are the new trinity. I always thought the new big 3 would be Spidey, Black Panther and Captain Marvel, but Chadwick sadly died and Ms. Carol will never be as beloved as Wanda. Carol doesn't attract the gays the way Wanda does. Wanda's pull is mainly MCU fanboys who love the 'step on me mommy' narrative and the ATRL gay crowd The thing is Wanda is so OP and that kind of gives the gays a lot of room to act like she's a popgirl, for many of the Stan Twitter crowd we love Wanda because she's feminine and yet super powerful, campy but strong, the literal f*ggot dream She reminds me of the way we watch popgirl chart battles! A Witches' Road solo outing would be amazing, her and Agatha traveling the multiverse and looking for Lore, her alternate evil Scarlet Witch variant (this time its a really evil world conquering version of her, not a 'blaze the earth to find her kids' type) and would love to see more of her magic! If I had to rank the MCU heroes in terms of commercial pull now it'd probably be: 1. Spider-Man (bigger than Superman and Batman even before the MCU so lets not) 2. Black Panther (sadly passed but the IP will prove us wrong probably) 3. Wanda (WandaVision is probably the MCUs most acclaimed work yet) 4. Strange (because I reckon half of the audience seeing DS2 were there for Wanda rlly) 5. Thor (never broke a billion, his commercial pull is strong in the US and Europe but his movies always fall flat globally) 6. Captain Marvel (lbr the reason it broke a billion even if I adore Brie is the fact that it was sandwiched between IW and EG) Edited May 8, 2022 by MingYouToo

Broken Posted May 8, 2022 Author Posted May 8, 2022 Box Office: ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Fires Up With $36 Million In Previews – Deadline SATURDAY LATE PM: Industry estimates see Disney/Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness coming in with an estimated $58.75M Saturday, which is 35% off from the pic’s opening day of $90M. Many believe that the sequel’s opening is between $190M-$194M. That’s a great kickoff to summer and the best opening for a Disney movie during the pandemic. With that range, Doctor Strange 2 will land between the 9th to 11th biggest domestic opening of all-time.
ALA Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Disney estimate is $185m. Think actual will be closer to $190m.

Captain Marvel (lbr the reason it broke a billion even if I adore Brie is the fact that it was sandwiched between IW and EG) I think I'd go like this 1. Spider-man 2. Loki (not really a hero, but he is way too popular to ignore) 3. Wanda 4. Black Panther (I don't know how succesful this franchise could be with Chad gone) 5. Thor (as much as he is one of the less popular from the original members, he is still basically the only one standing from them) 6. Doctor Strange 7. Guardians of the Galaxy?
Assassin Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Will T'challa less Black Panther top this in November? I don't think so.

fridayteenage Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 mcu will have 6 of the top 10 opening weekends either way.
BNF91 Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 (edited) Actual has to go up because $185M would mean an atrocious weekend IM (internal multi). Thinking it will land in the $415-440M range domestic. It's got 3 full weeks to itself which is unheard in the kickoff to summer season in May so it should benefit from that. Edited May 8, 2022 by BNF91
Gorjesspazze9 Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Word of Mouth about Wanda is what will give this legs. She is insanely popular online. I think moving this to Mother’s Day weekend was also a cool move. This definitely doing 1.2 billion at the end of the day
ALA Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 The box office idiots disappointed this didn't do more this doing almost Age of Ultron numbers domestically is insane. I'm thinking the total will be around $440m. If it has decent legs I'll be surprised but would be cool to see.

Nobody would’ve thought a Doctor Strange film would do over $150 million let alone nearly $200 million. This is a massive smash no matter how you flip it.
Gorjesspazze9 Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 10th biggest opening of all time and people are saying this underperformed like even if it’s frontloaded, it’s a major win for Marvel.
Donquizote Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Wonder if this will be frontloaded mess. Second week box office figure will show whether this will hit 1 billion eventually.
Donquizote Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 The word of mouth has not been kind. Many straight Marvel fans hate this and they won't watch for second time

Khal Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 The opening week was definitely going to slay, but the hold for coming weeks will be interesting. Just speaking from my TL, I'm seeing loads of "not bad, but underwhelming" reactions.
BNF91 Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Actuals coming in. Sunday up to $39M. $188M wknd I believe. Opening is still big. But the weekend IM is serving Harry Potter/Twilight legs

BNF91 Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Can't remember the last time a massive opener decreased with actuals. But OS update dropped $3m. We should get everyone's predictions for final grosses (DOM/OS) and see who ends up being the closest!
