It would easily gross 1 billion if they gave what the fans wanted. Can't believe they decided to make Dr Strange not to do anything in its own movie. I feel like you're projecting because I didn't see that many people claim it would exceed a billion, and many of us realized it'd probably not cross that mark or at least have a hard time doing so after first week numbers and second week drop. That being said, anyone trying to come for its success is ridiculous. Regardless of reaching a billion, it's still a wildly successful film. Not liking it is one thing (I personally only cared for queen Elizabeth) but the numbers don't lie and there's no logical way to frame them as a flop
BNF91 Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 $955-960M final. Good number even if no billion. Nonetheless: $450M in first 3 days, $500M for the rest of the run.
Anye Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Where’s China when you need them?!! Btw can’t wait for Wednesday
Puma Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Is there any possibility this reaches 1b in the end? and why it hasn't because honestly I thought it was a given.

Had it received a release in China it most likely would’ve cleared 1 billion quite easily so that’s a major part of it. It was, at the end of the day, one of Marvel’s more divisive films and required a lot of prior knowledge. Match that with the fact that the first Dr. Strange film wasn’t a huge huge hit for Marvel and that’s kind of your answer

It will end just shy of a Billion at the end of the day, it’s already pretty much there. China is one of Disney’s biggest markets, and it didn’t show in that country or in Middle East countries at all. Also it having horror elements kept families from repeated viewings many marvel films relay on. Also no one was expecting a docter strange sequel of all movies to be this much of a smash. Disney projected this to make $600 million profited after marketing recouped. if not for the multiverse expectations from fans of Spider-Man NWH. NWH being a pop culture phenomenon last year, that ended up being one of the biggest films ever made. It was never gonna match. So it’s a mixed of fans having fan theories of Ben affleck daredevil Hugh jackman Wolverine, Tobey Maguire, and more illogical cameos. Basically fans were expecting an avengers film and the public wasn’t expecting a Sam rami horror-campy project. Yet it still is Marvel studios most successful film since Phase 4 started 3 years ago Edited June 22, 2022 by Gorjesspazze9

Puma Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 (edited) oo I completely forgot about Ms China. It makes sense now, the film was still a huuuuge success Edited June 28, 2022 by Puma
YR. Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 I love this and Elisabeth, but the reality is that this movie flopped. It bombed with critics and initial reactions from the audience. Everyone was expecting this to be the big phase 4 movie, mini-avengers style like Civil War. We got MOM with no cultural impact

We got MOM with no cultural impact It's cool to have WRONG opinions as long as you don't state them as facts. The movie remains an UTTER success. So, did DS2 FLOP? It's the 7th highest grossing non-avengers MCU movie despite being banned in several Middle East countries (losing at least $15M), China (first DS made $100M, so at least $100M lost), not releasing in Russia (first DS made $22M, so at least $30M lost), & Ukraine (another $3-5M lost). So yeah all things considered we're talking about $1.1-1.25B had it been released everywhere. Domestic Gross: will end up at around $415M (+80% vs. DS1) International Gross: $540M (+21% vs. DS1 despite not being released in several important markets) taking away just China & Russia from the equation, DS1 made $314M internationally, which means DS2 made +70% more (similar to the domestic growth). If we were to apply that +70% growth to the total international box office = $756M So, did DS2 BOMB with critics and audiences? Rotten Tomatoes: Critics: 74% FRESH Audience: 85% FRESH Consensus: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness delivers all the action and visual excitement you want in a Marvel movie while taking the franchise in a much darker direction. IMDB: 7.1/10 Opinions are cool and all, but facts are facts.

Gorjesspazze9 Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 Not people in here still trying to argue if this floppedMarvel Studios biggest smash hit In 3 years, the biggest MCU movie debut on Disney+. I’m sure Marvel is crying with there $950,000,000?
Kings. Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 It’s so close to $1B Disney better put it back in theaters once it eventually does leave because it’s right there, but I doubt it’ll make it during it’s original run.
