My country better not do the same :skull:

Either cut the scene or ban the film. Remember, MTRCB banned an episode of a series depicting the 9 dash line as wellz

I think they should ban the film as a punishment, if the just cut it the next movie will be the same and no lesson learnt here. Hollywood should not pampering China so much. :toofunny3:

They need to stop doing that... kissing China butt so much, Vietnam has a population of 100 million, it's huge market. WB lost. :deadbanana2:

China is a bigger fish to catch. But they are literally stupid for this, the fact that it's a very comedic map as well, why would they need to go into such details? :rip: :rip:

I can see Philippines banning it too. Was that a WB decision to get that China release date or Greta just randomly added it to the globe? lmao. I don’t see how it’s relevant to the plot so like…

The funny thing is the movie is probably going to flop in China anyway. Is Barbie (the doll/brand) even popular there?

Yes, I/We got that but a movie or the entertain industry should not involved with the politic or territorial disputes between countries EVER, period. And this matter not only involved Vietnam but Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia. And I could see they do the same as Vietnam. :rip:

Ofc it's NOT relevant to the plot, it like what... 0.5 seconds of screen time and you don't even noticed. They doing that to pampering China I guess. Let's see how this movie turned out in China. :coffee2:

It's pandering to China. Not 'pampering', just FYI.

a LOT of Barbie collectors wish Mattel would finally focus on the early and mid 2000s looks bc the 80s and 90s eras are SOOOOOO overdone.

Y2K era had a ton of iconic looks

Barbie's fashion from the 2000s are not very good to translate to actual fashion, I'm sorry. :rip: Most of them were very ready-to-wear-to-the-mall fashion, and it's just very basic.  Maybe the Diva collection, but even that I think it's too much for the movie since it's all about the "Barbiecore" basically.

Realistically speaking, I think a dress inspired by the Birthday Wishes/Happy Birthday line would be totally worth it.

i'm sooo watching this on the first day if this actually gets banned here :gayriahcat2: good thing it releases at July 19. :deadbanana2:

So Asia probably won't be on board just like with Mario

And Barbie's not as popular in Japan, their local dolls called Licca-chan had been stomping on Barbie for decades now

Edit: The soundtrack, specifically the power ballad I'm Just Ken might turn things around :clap3:

Isn't this the era where Barbie got the most flack from parents? :rip:

Spoiler

Also I think Mattel considers this era as a dark age, they only made more fashionable because of Bratz. The legal issues and general dumpings on Barbie during that time makes it less desirable?
