I was confused about the concept of this movie at first too… but if they go for something like Lightyear where this is a story about the real person who inspires the toy then this could be amazing. Barbie characterised as all glitz and smiles on the surface with a darker truth to her underneath   possibly inspired by recent events with Britney? They could really take this somewhere special that you wouldn’t expect on first look at it being a “Barbie” movie, and with Greta directing I hope this might be the way it goes.

It's been in development for quite a while and it's a comedy. Probably something more along the lines of Barbie becoming bored and fed up with her life, beauty, her image of perfection, etc. and setting out to achieve something different and everyone else in Barbieworld being like "wtf is wrong with her". Probably similar to Legally Blonde.

Too bad they couldn't afford to have gotten Jaime Presley
