It’s a downright magnificent film that puts most modern studio comedies to shame. There isn’t a single joke that doesn’t land with gut-busting precision.

Yang may be the MVP in this ensemble, though the cast is terrific across the board. 

 

 

There's a Britney karaoke scene too. Queen of gays.

I saw this at an advanced screening a few weeks ago

 

Joel Kim Booster was there watching with us but barely any people noticed 

 

Spoiler thoughts below:

 

It was super cute! I wish the relationship (as in, friendship) between the two leads was better explored. Felt like the emphasis on comedy and great one liners might have come at the expense of having that more in depth characterization. Also felt one of the romances worked a lot better for me than the other. But overall it was really sharply written, well acted, and a great time.

This was a cute film! Some of the characters could’ve been explored better, but it’s not trying to be more than a fun romcom for gays and there’s some cute and witty writing in there. Check it out!

I love Bowen Yang, so I watched this and wasn't disappointed.  It's camp and fun, not too serious, and was overall a cool foray into what Fire Island is.  Booster and Yang did a great job anchoring the film and should seriously consider more acting roles in film.

 

Also, ya'll should watch it regardless because of the representation.  Written by and starring an out gay Asian man, starring a fully out gay cast that consists of 95% POC, many of which are not "masc", and done in a way where they express how messed up Fire Island is.

This was excellent and so realistic. The couples I wanted to end up together ended up together. 

 

Plus Margaret Cho was iconic as usual and we had 2 covers of Britney's Sometimes with an overall excellent soundtrack

well it's a loose adaptation of pride and prejudice, so the writer wasn't going to change their fates.
