Hephaestus Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 This movie was ok, solidly middle of the road and way less cringy than Thor Love & Thunder (which got a fresh tomato, let that sink in). Didn't really love Cassie's "introduction", but every other character got a moment to shine, especially Hank and Janet. The real problem for me is that the Quantum Realm doesn't have its own identity, looking and feeling more like space than anything else. Second half of the movie was a little underwhelming in my opinion with no true, satisfying action sequences and even the final fight didn't hit as hard as expected. M.O.D.O.K. was severely wasted on this, hands down one of the worst introductions and usages of a character in the entire MCU. Post credits were really cool, but I left the theatre thinking that Kang still doesn't feel like the multiversal threat they want us to believe he is.
Blue. Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Weird but unlike previous movies where people I knew would see it and echoed reviews, those that saw it so far liked it. Maybe I’ll give it a chance in theaters?
Gorjesspazze9 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 (edited) Just got out the theater and as expected the Internet was being overdramatic with the bad reviews 😆 this is definitely a 7.5/10 film and did exactly what I was expecting from trailers. Showcasing Kang and being a fun Adventure Antman movie. Going to see this with family again this weekend. I thought it was a great start to phase 5. -Pros Spoiler Major’s definitely elevated every scene he was in and felt compelling in the role. his scenes with Michelle Phifer in flashbacks, the 3rd act fights against Antman, and his mannerisms really solidified him as the next big Star of Marvel. Pretty much everything Kang related was amazing. I felt this film hit family dynamics between all of the family members better than any other Antman entry. The cast truly delivered. This felt like a MCU movie, but they definitely heard critics tell them to tone down the humor. Cuz there is a way better blend of serious tones and comedy compared to last year. Post credit scenes are great and very Comicbooky. Also as much as people complain about CGI, this movie Visualls are Amazing 90% of the time. Another example of the internet watching a few trailer scenes and acting like Marvels CGI is trash. Like I thought Modok metal form was actually done really well. His face was a gag, and it’s supposed to be since that literally him in the comics. Modok actually wasn’t as annoying as I expected. I kinda agree he wasn’t necessary for the movie but I don’t think it was as tragic as the internet makes it out to be. Kinda like this whole film. I would watch this again over the first 2, and I enjoy those. also Cassie was great. She actually felt like a Gen Z MCU character, like Kate Bishop and Ms. marvel. -Cons Spoiler My biggest problem is definitely the freedom fighter and weird Star Wars creatures of the Quantum realm. It felt like a bit too much Sci-fi, even for Marvel. Some scenes were just weird. But I’m not really a Star Wars/ space Galaxy person. The Quantum realm really just felt like space and guardians of the galaxy attempts. The rebellion part definitely felt like it was aimed for a younger demo then myself. Which is fine, but it really made that 2ndish act feel like another movie. honestly if they just tone down the weird creatures and rebellion plot I wouldn’t have had a problem other then 3D. But I can’t stand 3D in general. It’s Just way too much happening and overstimulating. I recommend you watch in theaters definitely but 3D isn’t necessary. also they definitely should have just made Michelle the official wasp again. Her acting and action scenes were way better than Wasp. Wasp kinda was just there💀😆 Few pacing issues , few missed jokes and not as interconnected to Shang-chi and Ms. Marvel as it should probably have been. But I think this is an enjoyable film and hits most points I wanted to see Edited February 17, 2023 by Gorjesspazze9
Gorjesspazze9 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Also that 3rd act fight is insane. Like that’s The Avengers type of spectacle I think many people been missing
GraceRandolph Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 48% with 208 reviews Very close to twinning with Eternals (47%) as the lowest of all time for the MCU.
Iceland Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 It’s a 7 for me, but they need to stop with these Rick & morty joke vibes
Memoirs387 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 I’m so confused. This wasn’t bad at all. A solid 7.5 out of 10. I really enjoyed it. Sure, a bit too jokey at times but overall, I had a great time and I have a great who couldn’t make it, so I’ll be seeing it again and I’m not mad about that.
azii Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 modok was atrocities what were they thinking with that
boys Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 (edited) I'm actually shocked to see people giving this a 7 in here. This was not good at all to me. Not a memorable moment from the entire film and I really was tapping my foot waiting for it to just get to the post credit scenes because the story for the multiverse saga as a whole just felt like it didn't progress at all. BNF91 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 (edited) I'm gonna guess $18M Thursday previews. Then a $30M true Friday for $48M opening day. $32M Sat/$24M Sun- $104M 3-day. President's day holiday wknd, so $16M Monday? So like $120M 4-day debut. But pretty steep falls afterward. $240-250M domestic finish IMO. Edited February 17, 2023 by BNF91
Donquizote Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 4.5/10 for me. This is not it. I love Eternals and thought it was unfairly judged by reviewers, so I give Antman a benefit of doubt. But Ant Man 3 is an atrocity
Kevin2803 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 I don't get the hate. I loved it. I am a sucker for multiverse storylines or anything about time. Kang was a great villain and the actor did a phenomenal job. Also liked the focus on Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathryn Newton. They barely gave the Wasp anything to do tho. But like in some of the "Thor" movies, they don't know when to tone down they humor, which takes away from which could be emotionally impactful scenes. Also wasn't a big fan of the CGI. Some of the settings and characters looked so fake, almost trashy and even downright creepy. It's funny how the Quantum Realm is basically a "Strange World" rip-off tho.
Da Vinci Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Kang should've had a cute end credit scene in DS2 or something Thanos debuted in the critically acclaimed $1.5B grossing Avengers 1 that everybody saw and loved Personally I'm just waiting for F4 and the X-Men But I can see Deadpool 3 being a $1B+ grosser cause of the Wolverine crossover just like how DS2 grossed $900M cause of the cameos The rest... I have no idea
cruelhprince Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 I'm interested to see what the cinemascore looks like for this. it has an audience score of 85% on RT right now
Sweetestsecret Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Makes $17.5 Million in Previews. https://variety.com/2023/film/box-office/ant-man-and-the-wasp-quantumania-box-office-previews-1235524431/
Bethenny Frankel Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 What did we expect, it's an AntMan movie lol. All three have been bad, there's no demand!

Gorjesspazze9 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 (edited) Favorite parts of the movie Spoiler -Antman possibilities scene. The CGI looked amazing. I feel like this is a tease to how Secret wars will be adding the expansive amount of characters that can be use onscreen at the same time. When all the Avengers &Marvel Legacy characters return in that movies climax. it will look way better than Docter strange cgi portals in Endgame. More like Reed Richard’s Blue Teleportation technology. -Antman Vs Kang was the best action I ever seen Antman do. Even in the avengers and civil war movies. If they kept that 3rd act fight choreography throughout the movie it would have been better. Also when Scott said he wouldn’t fight Captain America, cuz it’s insane🤣 possible setup to him having to fight an evil Captain America Variant in Kang Dynasty. A good Callback I’m the making. -cassie talking about Rent & being compassionate to Homelessness being on the rise post blip felt very current and relatable. I think they got her Gen Z ideology down. But I do think Kathryn could have pulled more emotional scenes with Scott then what we got. I think it was fine performance overall. But it’s clear that she ain’t gonna be the leader of Young Avengers team. Definitely still seems like Kate Bishop is the most well received one so far. -Michelle Phifer outshined Wasp so much. I kinda agree with everyone saying she should take up the mantle more going into future marvel projects. She knows more about Kang than anyone in the MCU other than arguably Loki/Sylvie. Her keeping Kang a secret to everyone is messed morally. but as far as acting and action she served. Her and Kang talking about incursions and parallel timelines was very cinematic. -the first post credit is actually really weird for me. As comic accurate as it was, I thought it was just too much. like I don’t see how 1,000 hyper active Kang’s is suppose to hype up mass audiences. Until I realized what was actually happening. This was the point of declaration that the Kang’s are going to attack the Avengers first. Unlike with Thanos who took several years to get out of his seat and take care of business once his heralds failed. All these Kang’s that have witnessed the events of Spider-Man, Docter Strange, Wanda and Antman… are about to start the War. So that got me hyped that Marvel is done waiting and introducing new characters, and is about to have them interact and become effected by thier consequences of tampering with Time and the multiverse. As far as interconnection in marvel recently, even I a massive fan agrees that it’s lacking. Not just Easter eggs and cameos, but it’s the feel that other avengers and hero’s don’t interact as much as they use to. Granted they are all dealing with truama, but they all feel secluded and detached from each other and thier social circles. Maybe marvel is doing this on purpose but it’s been long enough and we haven’t had scenes like Age of Ultron where the team is just hanging out and enjoying each other’s company. She-hulk and daredevil is the last crossover that felt realistic. Other than Bucky & Sam and of course Wong! Most MCU characters nowadays feels anti-social and concern only about themselves and family. -the Loki end credit scene is from a scene in the show where that Kang variant goes back in time to predict what inventions and companies will become wealthy and famous. But the rumor twist is that this Kang is Kang Prime, and is really working with the Kang that the council thinks dies in this film. Apparently Loki will explain the true origin of Kang Prime; coming from the 30th century, going back in time to tamper with Howard stark tech. And all the events of avengers dying, being replaced, or removed during phase 4 are apart of his grand plan to keep the avengers and other Kang’s at bay. They exiled the Antman 3 Kang because he knows the ending. I think the Multiverse is a way too big of a concept for mainstream audiences but docter strange worked and most non-fans enjoyed it. So I’m sure Marvel can make Kang’s crazy 10,000 version of himself work. I just hope they make Kang Prime as intimidating as this one we saw. Like he should just be zapping avengers out of existence. He technically did in this film to the rebels but his power level should be like that consistently. Cuz I truly enjoyed his action scenes before he got trampled to death by ants💀🤣 it’s a Antman film afterall so I don’t care if he was defeated. But this won’t slide in Avengers films or X-Men/Fantastic 4 projects. Still I thought the action was the best we have gotten since Shang-chi easily honestly the only thing that was missing here was that they should have kept avenger name dropping or added another avenger to the movie if they wanted this to feel more impactful for the MCU future. Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty obvious how they are setting up Kang and the multiverse secret war. But adding Captain America Sam Wilson in a scene would’ve been dope Edited February 18, 2023 by Gorjesspazze9
Danny789 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 I enjoyed it more than the last Ant Man and just like the Eternals the film seems to be judge too harshly. I give it a 7 out of 10 I had a good time.
Gorjesspazze9 Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Brie Larson posting about Antman 2 times today! Glad she is engaging in the fandom again
GraceRandolph Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Audiences have given Quantumania a B Cinemascore, tying with Eternals as the worst ever for the MCU.
