Even casual marvel movie goers are saying this is the best MCU film since endgame. The way this is getting universal praise and gonna be the best hold and legs of recent Marvel films:clap3:

gotta give James Gun his 10’s for brining the general public critical reception back. Still 95% score on RT, 82% critical

this was surprisingly good :clap3:(still, F marvel and disney)

wonder if James Gunn will help DC rebound like this

I was thinking about the ending scene with "Dog Days Are Over" this morning and it got me emotional. :jonny: I need to see this movie again.

Hopefully this teaches Marvel a lesson that approaches like the previous films are to be avoided and that they should stick with stuff that is more like Guardians.

The issue is that they keep hiring crappy writers. Now Gunn is going over to run the competition. :deadbanana4:

I cannot for the life of me fathom why this critic score isn't leagues above Vol 2 (I know it's still certified fresh but it deserves mid-high 90s). I left the theater this week feeling moved, floored, entertained, and emotional. Truly an incredible film, one that could rival the best of the franchise in my opinion :wanda:

The ending dance was truly a moment. I can't even describe how happy I was when I heard dog days.

Highlights for me:

- A film that stands on its own. No multiverse, no external characters.

- The intention to really close this chapter of the Guardians and some of the cast after 10 years.

- Everything that revolves around Rocket is really nice and moving.

- Gunn is the one who best masters the balance between humor and seriousness. That's what makes the flashback scenes work. In the other Marvel movies, humor is everywhere, all the time even in the dramatic scenes ( the last Thor for example).

- I found that all the characters have a nice conclusion and exposure in the movie. No plot twists for Gamora. It makes sense and we have a nice conclusion.

- Mantis fits nicely into the dynamic. Same for Nebula.

- My two favorite environments: Counter-Earth (very funny the whole suburban part) + the visually ingenious company HQ.

In short, the most successful Marvel movie for several years.

Marvel has 2 of the biggest movies of the year again. Guardians is #3 and will be #2 by Sunday :clap3:

This movie REALLY made me realize that this is the end of an era :cries:

Over the past 10 years, I've gradually outgrown super-hero movies, I think 2017/2018 (Guardians 2, Infinity War, Logan, Wonder Women) was the peak for me then I cared less and less ...

This movie really felt like a goodbye to that era, not only to the guardians (an amazing charismatic cast we won't see again in a while) but also to a period when I use to care about this stuff. Feeling nostalgic right now and ready to turn the page. :weeps:

Great send off btw. I'm glad it ended in such a good note.

I think if they drop the Kang mess, then they will probably go straight into the X-Men

Ain't no way.. They'll probably recast him or change the villian and title.

They will never/cant cancel 2 avengers movies.

Yeah probably. I feel like Kang Dynasty will be more like Age of Ultron instead of Infinity war.

I lowkey agree. Also I don’t know why they don’t phase Kang out and make Doctor Doom the next big bad leading up to the F4 movie and have some avengers story evolve around that which would make sense as Doom was integral to Secret Wars as well.

Early Fri #: $15-16M

Weekend can be anywhere from $53-61M I think. Best 2nd weekend hold for MCU film since Black Panther If I recall correctly.

$300M Domestic should be in the bag.

It was soo good! High evolutionary would have been a perfect starter for a Kang variant !
