Jack! Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 This was great, not on the same level as Us or Get Out which are easy 10/10’s, but it’s a good 8.5 or 9/10. Keke was the highlight of this. And Brandon Perea really is so hot. The Star Lasso scene really messed me up and then the scene at the house afterwards when it spits all the blood out was the same. I’m so claustrophobic and felt so uncomfortable knowing they would all be stuck in those slimy tubes, and then the fact every so often when it was flying about you would hear people screaming really did make me uncomfortable. I found the end a bit dud overall but I think I found those two mentioned scenes in particular more scary than anything is Get Out or Us.
Roberto Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 (edited) 117.5 M box office. It will barely make half of Get Out and Us (both did 255 M but with a waaay smaller budget). I blame Us for this, I love that movie but a lot of people didn't like it and kinda didn't give another chance to Peele. Also, Universal not releasing this almost simultaneously in every country, especially USA/UK/Japan kinda screwed up its chances. Edited August 20, 2022 by Roberto

RT Air Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 Just got back from the cinema and I totally loved it! Not as great as Get Out but a major step up from Us. It was pure entertainment and everything I look for in a cinema experience.
Godly Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 Thought this was phenomenal and I'm surprised by how divisive it is, some friends I saw it with pretty much loathed it
TaylorNation Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 saw it tonight and loved it so much! a fantastic experience that feels so rare in movie theaters nowadays
TaylorNation Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 (edited) a couple of things I didn’t get though Spoiler - what was the point of the shoe? - why did the alien change shape? - I keep seeing people saying that OJ and Em get the footage at the end, but doesn’t it all get destroyed by the tornado when Jean Jacket eats the cinematographer guy? DoctorIce Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 It's a shame the disconnect between the main story and the Jupe/Gordy subplot dragged this down. This felt like Us in that it was fun and entertaining but falls apart when you really think about it. I like Jordan Peele as a director but he needs a co-writer or something. That Jupiter Claim scene was probably the scariest scene out of any of his movies though. Nightmare fuel.
Roberto Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 (edited) I just watched it and it was fine. I don't know if it's better than Us, but sure is more entertaining. Get Out remains untopped. The abduction and Gordy scenes were... Edited August 25, 2022 by Roberto

He has great ideas and this whole movie idea was excellent but at some points it felt kinda slow and other times it was a rollercoaster. It needs a more defined structure. Anyway, can't wait for his next projects. Truly my favorite director.
Theshigo Washidu Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 I watched this at the cinema last week, but some parts of it didn't make sense. I did fall asleep while watching some of it so maybe I missed the important parts.
toy soldier. Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 It was alright. The acting was great and beautifully shot, but I found it very anticlimatic
flower moon Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 Just got done with it. It was okay. Daniel (OJ) give absolutely nothing pmuch the entire film tho;????? ? like that was it. Brandon and Keke carried.
Smarticle Posted August 27, 2022 Posted August 27, 2022 watched the first half...i'll watch the other half tmw it's a bit slow at first, but the mystery is kinda intriguing and the suspense needed to be built

All these, like tapping into the biological processes of the predator's insides is enough to make your stomach churn. I was kinda confused with Jupe's backstory too but I thought it could Peele's idea to show Jupe's thought process in trying to, in OJ's words, "tame a predator" like how he "did" with Gordy through their fist bump. I do agree the subplot needs to have more connection with the main story though.

The monkey was exploited for the TV show, Jupe exploited that event for money, the Haywood’s exploit the horses for Hollywood, the “UFO” is exploited for fame and fortune and so on. Ah initially thought it was gonna be like how people easily fall into conspiracy theory kind of messaging, but this makes so much more sense.
Smarticle Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 definitely wasn't on the level of horror as Us or Get Out but was a cute attempt at trying out a different kind of story

Brandon's cute too. US > Nope > Get Out US remains unbothered, tbh. This was fine but it wasn't legendary or anything.
