this movie is pure camp lol maybe you took the film too seriously?

this isn't sharknado sis :dies:

i think it's underwhelming cause it came off the back of No Way Home so there was an expectation to stay great if not greater. some sequences were amazing but then the writing kinda took it down a notch

Just got out of my 3rd viewing. One for review purposes, one as a fan and one viewing just to re-watch it with friends. I enjoy each experience more.

Spoiler

I agree that we should have had a full fight finale. Wanda Vs. Strange fighting through the multiverse and showing off hundreds of spells would have been epic. But I was satisfied overall. Wanda Vs. The Illuminati was the hilight fight of the whole movie. Did we really want to see Wanda kill Tobey Maguires, X-Men Flops, Ghost rider or alternate unknown marvel characters that make no sense to the plot ?most of the audience didn’t even care for the Illuminati. But everyone came out the theater talking about thier deaths and Wanda. So I was fine with the few cameos. The writing definitely could have been stronger, but it all made sense and was easy to follow along. With concepts like the multiverse, this could have been a way more confusing and boring film. So props to Sam for keeping it engaging. Anyways I already gave my thoughts multiple times. But as my final watch, I say this is one of the better films of phase 4. I was never bored or lost, Wanda got iconic moments, and it felt like a Comic. It achieved what it wanted with Docter strange’s Unhappiness and made Wanda more comic accurate.

I do think the original beginning was needed

What ?

It was very entertaining! 7/10 for me! Good but not amazing!

Why did this film cost soo much? Some of the sets look terrible. :rip:

I almost wish evil Wanda was in a much higher quality movie. Days if future past was a better multiverse movie.

I love a good camp film when it’s great but some aspects felt quite goofy.

Shouldn’t have been named multiverse, we see like 2 :rip:

Somw of the character choices….why would Kevin allow? :rip:

Despite my critiques I really enjoyed it! Just was it was more polished and less “camp” if we’re calling it that.

They resot several several times. I wonder why and what all was taken out, why! I want the tea! Kevin couldn’t fully save it.

If we stop pretending we are movie critiques, it is actually good

Wanda carried

The script is so hard to defend and the more you think about it and its potential the more you get upset :rip: Marvel really needs to stop writing during production. I really hope they learn from this and also never bring Waldron back.

The movie is a mess. Have they significantly reshot or something? Scenes don't flow and there are clearly missing scenes. Olsen carried the film. Her character arc makes zero sense though, it's very Game of Thrones final season. America Chavez's character could have been replaced by a magic stone and it would make no difference. Wong is reduced to a joke as the sorcerer supreme. But my general problem is Dr. Strange doesn't even really get to do anything in his own film. He feels just as much a supporting character as he did to Peter in NWH.

Yeah, this movie was supposed to come before No Way Home and when they flipped the order because Sony wouldn't move it they reshot a bunch of scenes.

This was such a fun watch :wanda: i loved it

I'm so surprised by how many people didn't like it. I'm not that much into MCU movies but I thought it was really good and so much better than I expected. I could not care less about Doctor Strange before this movie but I liked that they finally showed more of his personal life in the film. He's a much more likable take on the "arrogant know-it-all" trope than Tony.

I've never seen a movie nitpicked like this. And the people acting like NWH is a classic, when it had one of the most ridiculous plots for a major movie ever......the definition of band wagoning.

Didn’t expect it to be such a blast but it did :jonny5:

Spoiler

Wanda really is that b!tch huh :wanda: the way she brutally slayed the Illuminati lol that scene was bonkers. Also scary af when she ran after Strange, christine and america with a broken leg. It’s serving Mia from evil dead remake.

It has Sam Raimi written all over it, the campiness, the darker theme/horror elements incorporated, the (amazing) melodramatic score, little nods here and there to his other iconic works

The pacing is a little bit all over the place but i guess it’s consistent with the chaotic nature of the multiverse

Storywise it isn’t groundbreaking or anything but it’s not amazing either.

Still an overall visual-audio feast and a highly enjoyable experience as far as Marvel movie typically goes. One of the best films in the MCU imo.

I’d give it an 8.5/10

I mean...the script wasn't even that bad?? The plot is simple and the story it tells is self-contained but it is a lot more consistent than NWH.

The fact that this movie (even with some flaws) has a lower % in RT than ******* Captain Marvel...chile :toofunny3:

I’m actually shocked by some of the hate this movie is receiving.. I can understand why some locals would be disappointed because, it doesn’t follow the usual mcu formula or because of the horror elements. But some marvel fans and movie lovers..? It’s weird.

This movie was insanely good, visuals, music, acting.. my only critique is that the pacing could’ve been better. Things should’ve taken more time to evolve, for example Wanda going on a murder spree. Which is the same issue that Daenerys from GOT suffered from. It’s not the concept of a woman beloved by everyone going evil is what people don’t like, its that we don’t get to see the process. Yes we saw a hint at the end of Wandavision, but maybe adding a few scenes during the film where she had to fight the darkhold back or something would’ve made it more clear/better. The movie felt too short and the ending was touching but should’ve been more massive.

But overall was a very fun experience, especially when high :alexz3: it’s nice to see Marvel giving more freedom to directors, it feels very fresh, less calculated, and the movie stands out in the mcu with its style.

Spoiler

The scene when Mordo explains dream

walking and we see Wanda on the screen with the editing & music???? Stunning. In the top 5 scenes in the mcu for sure.

This was SO good! The critics did not lie: Wanda (and of course Lizzie) carried the movie. This has Raimi written all over it. I literally don't know why people concluded that Marvel did not give him enough freedom. I personally think this will be a classic in the MCU in a few years.

The only negative criticism i have for the script:

The memory machine thing was lazy writing.

They could have developed America's story and how the Darkhold corrupted Wanda more.

The way America managed to control her powers because of a speech from Strange.

Also there is this argument about Marvel movies 3rd act always ending with a big CGI fight.

For once the movie ends in a more creative way and Marvel fans hate it because there wasn't a big Wanda vs Strange fight :rip:

However, I do think the original beginning was needed... it was a little too quick into fully fledged evil Wanda

What was the original beginning?

Apparently a scene where Wanda kills Mordo and we see more of how the Darkhold corrupts her

Not me walking out of the cinemas before the mid/post-credits scene and everyone staying. I could literally feel everyone's eyes on me and my parents as we walked out and some random kid shouting "You're not a true Marvel fan if you leave early". Sis its 11pm we got tired I will watch it online eventually, leave us be!

Anyways, the film was FANTASTIC. Ms. Olsen is everything to me :wanda:
