pride4jc1222 Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 (edited) lol at Iga getting a very easy draw and still managed a way to screw it up. It’s criminal that Rybakina and Jabeur (last year’s Wimbledon final) was pitted as a quarterfinal this year with the reward being a matchup against Sabalenka tomorrow, with no rest. The fact that Iga is struggled against players like Bencic and Svitolina shows just how weak the competition is. 2019 US Open Serena, at almost 38 years old, was still wiping out those players 6-3, 6-1. Igas big problem are her coaches at this point. They are creating a Radwanska pt 2 out of her: Barely going for winners anymore, only hoping for unforced errors. Then theres barely any variety in her game, no finesse. Add to that her mental instability and the tantrums shes throwing, which should be so very much beneath her after being world #1 for more than an entire year. She needs a switch up, and a fast one at that. Otherwise, I see a bleak future for her where her peak will be the Iga at 20 years old playing fearlessly and ferociously
Sensation Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 Semfinals Women Svitolina v Vondrousova Sabalenka v Jabeur Men Alcaraz v Medvedev Djokovic v Sinner
midnightdawn Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 I hate how political this whole tournament has been.
Marla Singer Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 Jabeur vs. Sabalenka was such a great match, I hope Ons can win tomorrow.
fridayteenage Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 The obvious final since before the tourney began. Of course sometimes frontrunners fail early anyway. Let's pull thru king alcaraz
geddymonster Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 (edited) Will Ons be able to recover from this? Edited July 15, 2023 by geddymonster

simmnfierzig Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 Did not have Vondrousova winning Wimbledon as a possibility That's insane She was 1-3 at Wimbledon before
QueenofCopyPaste Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 First unseeded player to win Wimbledon HUGE!
Marla Singer Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 Poor Ons. Marketa played beautifully and deserved to win, but Ons just mentally collapsed as well, after being so mentally tough against Sabalenka. She was so down on herself early in the second set even when she was still very much in the match and had the crowd fully behind her. Ons had to beat Andreescu, Kvitova, Rybakina and Sabalenka back-to-back - all slam champions, 2 of them at Wimbledon, one of them the one who beat her last year, 2 of the current "big 3" of women's tennis - and then she just loses in straight sets to a random unseeded finalist, you better believe this will be a tough loss for her to get over.

JonRih Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 16 players have a slam on wta right now… it really doesn’t feel like a big deal to win a slam anymore on their side. It’s just uneventful (that famous “not another one” meme)
Slamless Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 Saw the Ons collapse a million miles away I think she needs to shift her mindset a bit. I get that might just be who she is but I'm not sure this whole friends-with-everyone energy thing is really helping her when it comes to these big matches. At this point its clear she really doesn't have that champions mentality that she simply needs. happy for marketa though! Luckily shes a former GS finalist so this isn't completely out of the blue for the sake of the wta
