It's important to undermine the false narrative that Trump won in some Reagan landslide so we don't all turn into nihilistic doomers talking about Republicans controlling the US government for decades. The swing was decisive in this election as it has been against incumbents literally everywhere, but it can be just as decisive in the left's favour in future if it succeeds in capturing the mantle of populism. Now that Trump is in power and is practically guaranteed to become unpopular again, there is ample room for that to happen and for the Republicans to be banished again in 26 and 28.ย Every ounce of this take is extremely bereft of historical understanding. The Democrats will not embrace populism to win elections because they are fundamentally an anti-populist status quo party that loves their establishment and just fully re-elected their exact same failed leadership structure in both the House and Senate UNANIMOUSLY. ย It's also a mistake to assume that Donald Trump will be unpopular in two years when right this very moment, he is currently more popular than he's ever been. Meanwhile Joe Biden, the outgoing lame duck, is barely more popular than Trump was after he attempted to foment a coup. Frankly, his approval rating should be in the single digits where they deserve to be, but whatever.
RihRihGirrrl Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Dem'a chances in 2028 will be determined by the state of the Country by the end of 2026, their ability to put forth a charismatic candidate, and their willingness to adopt a more populist platform....I think campaigning on at least 3 economic populist policies is crucial. ย The only good thing they have going for them at the moment is that Trump/Republicans are almost certainly going to expose their corruption in year one.ย
Armani? Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Lower drug prices will be a win for Trump by midterms also btw even though he did nothing to pass it (this assumes he doesn't roll it back)

We need second and even third elections. To many people to too dumb to vote just once.

ClashAndBurn Posted 57 minutes ago Posted 57 minutes ago So many here still have Will Stancil-brain. When his entire worldview was proven horrendously wrong. Yet they will still have an outsized influence in the Democratic Party's continued neoliberal trajectory of decay. ย Like, the fact that nearly half of this dogshit party's voters would be content with a proven LOSER like Kamala Devi Harris running again in 2028 is beyond belief ย
