She's playing a game, and while I hate the game and I wish she would've stuck to her old rhetoric because this progressive-in-disguise method does make me cringe considering what she used to say. But I do have to commend her for (hopefully) playing the long game and getting into the good graces of the party elites to hopefully move the party left, rather than get snatched up like Cori Bush did. And that's not a slight to Bush either, it would just be devastating to see all the Squad members get toppled by AIPAC money one by one. Will AOC's method actually be effective in the long term? History shows us no, they usually just become indistinguishable from other run-of-the-mill Dems, but nonetheless I hope she's different.

AOC's clearly doing a way better job at ingratiating herself into the good graces of Dem party leadership than Bernie ever did. The Democratic party is insecure more than anything else and the main thing that they didn't like was how Bernie criticized the party and came across as knowing better than them (which was true! But that's beside the point). If she spends the next 10-15 years doing what she's already started doing over the last few years, she's very unlikely to face the same party obstacles that Bernie faced. 5
