With such attrition rate we could help Ukraine burning down the Russian military and chopping their population pyramid down like a Christmas tree.

Russian culture, history, way of doing things,... wants the smallest possible nobility, middle class, private sector,... and in the Donbass they are testing out how a society looks like if the people have only 2 choices in life: work for the warlord or earn more money by fighting for the warlord.

Russia is good in 2 things: getting natural resources out of the ground (It doesn't require any input from the population, it is easy to keep the population as uneducated as possible if you can let foreign companies do the extraction.) and inheriting stuff of the USSR, they can't produce new tanks since 2014 sanctions.

Every single piece of military hardware that is burned down or captured, cannot be replaced by Russia. Suddenly Ukraine has more tanks than what Russia could drag to the war.

Macron capitalizing on Germany looking like fools, looking to secure his role as the leader of the EU :ahh:

The Death Knell to that ghoul Le Pen. He’s finally speaking the language Putin understands!

Russia can dream about that, but can they actually do it? They have tried to take Kherson airport more than 10 times and were destroyed by Ukrainian artillery more than 10 times.

Without their army finding a way through Mykolaiv, their navy won't show up for an amphibious landing.

I'm following this war so closely not only because it could spread to Western Europe, it is also because we are seeing 19th century romanticism, birth of a nation state,... happening right in front of our eyes and how all the stories, myths,...from previous centuries are being written, created,... right in front of us. This war is what the revolution for France, America,... was.

Nationhood in Europe has always been forged by war, all the greatest powers in the world have always ganged up against a small country like the Netherlands wanted to become independent and the small country got what it wanted by defeating the combined might of the rest of the world in war.

Discontent is building up in the Russian army like it's 1917. Putin isn't willing to call it a war and activate mass mobilisation because it means that hundreds of thousands of young men who could rebel against him are being armed for a war they don't understand. Putin is afraid of creating the military force that could win in Ukraine because his own people would use all the weaponry and power to destroy their own government like it's 1917 all over again.

When the common soldier is so miserable that he wants to kill his officers, commanders, leaders,... and anyone else involved in that. The morale is so low that the average Russian soldier would compare going to Ukraine with WWI trench warfare.

Relevant:

Quote

French voters entirely unmoved by Japan’s nuclear accident at Fukushima; in Germany, it led immediately to the abandoning of a perfectly well-functioning nuclear program. Nobody else seems much worried by “Chlorhühner” (chickens washed in chlorine to preserve them); in Germany, consumers are utterly terrified of them. The German press has been widely reporting that iodine tablets, assumed to protect against nuclear fallout, are selling out across the nation, even though the Czechs, Slovaks, Poles, Hungarians, and Balts, who would seem logically to be in more immediate danger if things do literally go nuclear, seem uninterested in prophylactic radiation treatment.

It does not, surely, require a doctorate in psychology to suggest that a nation that seems so terribly scared of everything is, at bottom, scared of itself. They—or rather, a specific, large group of them—are worried that the moment they stop being absolutely on their guard, terrible things will happen.

They can slow down the Russians as much as possible till the Western artillery arrives and be ready to hunt down Russian artillery.

Being able to throw shells up to 30 or 40 km far is an advantage over the Russian artillery ranges:

It looks like time for me to take up positions in chemistry, tyres,...

People are going to scalp car tyres like graphics cards and protect the catalytic converter against rising thievery:
