Green Tea Is Green Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 I'm more willing to believe there's some conspiracy in the kpop industry to inflate all album sales than to believe any of these #s are real

Not an Army at all but I think BTS (and BP to a lesser extent) opened up Kpop to an audience that has recently started to also go after other Kpop acts after stanning only BTS and BP for years- which is good imo. Adding to the fact that fanbases have become more competitive than ever in buying these albums + the fact that as someone already pointed out, albums are glorified merch= Kpop is experiencing a boom in album sales.
Companion Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 I dont get the hype for Sakura? Why she is so popular? She seems like okay dancer and okay singer. Also not have powerful stage presence like Yunjin, Chaewon or Kazuha. If Eunchae gain a little confident she can even surpass her. Also she dont have unique visuals and even dont fit to kpop standarts. Dont get me wrong tho she is super pretty girl. I just want to know how she was the 2nd most popular member on izone.

Korea funds the agency when they started the hallyu wave, i believe they give money to sm, yg, jyp back then so i wont be surprised if they are all behind all these inflated album copies.

It’s because she’s pretty and has been the center for the AKB subgroups so her popularity translated. She also got decent airtime on produce. Plus she has a shy demeanor which East Asians love for women.

Red Velvet Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 Album sales are 100% inflated now and many huge figures i'm seeing are suspect Now every group is somehow selling 700k-1million and Kpop has grown but not to that extent. How do we measure success now with these fake album sales?
MonsterNavy Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 Honestly, 95% of these 4th gen groups album sales are pretty sus tbh especially when the millions of album sales never matches the spotify and youtube streams. Most of these 4th gen groups also uses ads on their youtube views when they shouldn't cause its the most "accessible" and its literally just a free platform for the fanbase to support their faves. If the artists streams are mediocre to downright bad while selling millions of albums, we can 101% tell the album sales are inflated and there's just something going on behind the scenes. Sorry but no one in this life time can convince me that ATEEZ and The Boyz are million sellers

Cuz even Karina bar only did 350k and that's like the biggest pre-order by a c-bar ever + a lot of Kpop albums are not available in China digital platforms so it's not accurate to make a comparison.

Windy Day Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 foreign fans are renting billboards in every single subway stations in seoul for an insane amount of money but it's too hard for yall to believe that these mentally ill fans with too much money in their hands would unite and bulk buy millions of albums even when for years now the standard to get into a boygroup fansign event was to buy THOUSANDS of copies?
k4rmabutterfly Posted October 11, 2022 Posted October 11, 2022 this has to be the gayest song released by a kpop artist
