? Lana del rey is NOT like Taylor Swift and does not receive the same type of attention. For what its worth, Lana is a massive bomb that only gays care about, so whatever backlash she gets is not even a small fraction of the (negative) attention that Taylor gets, and thats just because she's a much bigger celebrity.

The hate is 99% on jobless terminally online-infested Twitter, any hate on TikTok is VERY contained. My entire FYP is just viral videos about Matty/Taylor and it’s all positive. No one in the GP is mad about this or cares at all about his past  

 

This will have zero effect on her career and if anything has just been helping give her even more press, which only helps her numbers. Honestly I don’t like him either but irregardless of that no one (normal people) cares about this in the real world.

do you not realize that this is much more than a conversation of how her numbers may be impacted?  Idc if the PR makes her numbers skyrocket, dating that dude is just so icky of her

This man is most likely the least conservative looking one she has ever dated. And she is serving that because chances are she actually is a white feminist. She is white, extremely wealthy and american. Is that bad to be a white feminist when she has the life circumstances of alt-right Trumpers? Is she supposed to understand reality like an opressed minority or a poor woman working a 9-5? I don't know why she can't just be a singer-songwriter with decent average political and social takes.

Maybe conservative wasn't the right word but are you really focusing on how "conservative looking" he is??  and not you defending white feminism  im serious when I ask this, do you understand what white feminism is? Literally no one is asking her to pretend to understand an oppressed minority because she simply will never be able to. What people are asking for is for her to be true to what she claims to be and to stand in it. For someone who made a whole documentary on how important it is to speak up and profited off of those stances, why should we expect "decent average political and social takes" like??? omg no wonder swifties get lashed if this is how a portion of the fandom feels

This is a wildly untrue misconception. Some ‘Swifties’ flooded her comments at the beginning (mostly trolls) and then once word got around, Swifties immediately flooded it with positive comments since most normal people can tell she didn’t do anything wrong. There ended up being 5x as many positive comments from Swifties trying to make up for those weirdos, as there were hate comments initially. She wasn’t “targeted” like you are saying, there’s literally nothing you can do about hateful trolls. I would say the huge number of fans that sent her love in response to those comments at the beginning are a much better representation than some trolls

This is literally all I'm saying. I mean I’m not defending him, just pointing out that this conversation surrounding his past is extremely limited to small sections of the fanbase / mostly to Twitter. Regardless of if it’s valid criticism or not, no one actually cares in the real world, so this won’t have any impact on her career. Just a simple observation.

Yeah, he’s not relevant to the GP, but then again her numbers have only been increasing this past week. I assume that’s honestly more to do with a combo of all the press/goodwill surrounding the rain show and Speak Now TV hype.

 

But then again, I think we underestimate how easy it is to be known on social media these days. He’s definitely not a totally unknown personality on TikTok, and they’re a huge driving factor for streaming trends these days. It’s like how the Olivia relationship drama blew up even though no one knew or cared about Joshua Bassett, it’s just that people are attracted to the drama irregardless.
