EliteNaviShit Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 guys lets be real she’s not getting that oscar… lmu is cute but it’s not this big moving song yall think it is. lyrics are basic, melody is basic, production is way too stripped down… and unfortunately it’s not the pretentious kind of stripped down these award shows like to recognise. you expect the song to pick itself up and go somewhere and it doesn’t… it’s extremely underwhelming to win an oscar and they certainly won’t award her just because she’s rihanna. also there is obviously no new music coming this year. she clearly debated if she wants to do coachella without new music and eventually decided she’ll just headline when she has music out, whenever that might be. but absolutely nothing points out to a release this year so far. knowing her, she’s (rightfully) gonna go back to hiding and being a mom after the hectic super bowl schedule and missing out on mom duties. yall are gonna call me negative nancy again but im just being realistic. we shouldn’t expect anything and just focus on super bowl and hope for the best
istan4badgalriri Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Yeah, zero chances of her winning at the Oscars but it doesn't really have anything to do with the song itself/its quality. I heard Naatu Naatu the other day and... it's all just politics
BajanBeauty Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 If she loses Critics Choice too than yes it’s safe to say an Oscar win won’t happen. IDC i still need that performance, LMU is beautiful and still a career highlight getting her nominated for the 1st time across the film industry Rather her lose these awards to Naatu Naatu than the pretentious fanbase of 2other pop girls.
getBusy Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 On the upside… 31 DAYS TO THE SB Let’s do this Navy!
istan4badgalriri Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 I never thought she was winning the Oscar in the first place and wasn't too hopeful about the GGs either, she has a history of bad luck with major award shows and is rarely given her flowers. All I care about is the nomination, so she can perform LMU there
ninasayers Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Yeah, LMU might not be the most amazing song but Naatu Naatu is literally horrendous, it's clear they don't actually reward what's best.
Homebrand Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 What does Naatu Naatu, that Taylor song and Hold My Hand have that LMU doesn’t?? I wouldn’t rule out the Oscars just yet.. chilleeee jeez I don’t think any of the nominated songs were standouts tbh.

Naatu Naatu was the only threat. & it’s a favorite amongst critics/small circuit awards thus far. (Mainly due to its placement in the film- it’s a part of a viral dance) The others are non factors. Hold My Hand is only getting noms because of Top Gun Best Picture chances. Carolina is inconsistent with noms.

It’ll be the same with critics, mixed leaning positive reception and then praise years later
zzmyth Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 maybe she lost the GG so she can win the Oscars..... lol Who knows!?
Яeo. Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Yall calm down, these things happen. Gaga was nominated for EVERY award last year and was snubbed from the Oscar. The Oscars are trying to differentiate themselves from other awards to not be too predictable
RockStarShit101 Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Quote Best lyrics (socially voted category) “Lift Me Up”- Rihanna A new nomination for the song at the iHeartRadio Awards

All I care about is the nomination, so she can perform LMU there I still remember being MAD (i don't get upset now) when the VMAs were a thing, and they snubbed the Rated R and LOUD era (only rude boy got best editing ). the singles were top ten hits with music videos attracting millions of views, but they never give her what she deserves.
zzmyth Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 BTW happy to see this forum back with movement and excitement. Happy navy😊

Carolina is inconsistent with noms. Exactly. It’s 50/50 chance between LMU and Natuu Natuu, to whoever understands how it works. At the moment it leans towards Natuu Natuu, but it could change any day.
Rih On The Brain Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Honestly couldn't care less if she wins anything for LMU. It's not a good song. And so many asking about new music when she's pretty much confirmed that nothing is coming anytime soon. Just enjoy the Super Bowl for what it is. A celebration of her music career.
RihFenty20 Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 The copium in these last few pages. Anyway, At this point. Rihanna the musician is a legacy act. R9 doesn’t exist, and I doubt that she even recorded anything before. We need to enjoy these last few crumbs because I fear the musician is on her last legs and will expire soon.
