DonnieDarko Posted Tuesday at 06:54 AM Posted Tuesday at 06:54 AM Godease will forever be iconic, her best received lead single in years critics wise. Such a banger. 12

At the time, there was literally nothing like them on MTV/radio. Bad Romance especially—more than Poker Face—was downright "weird" to the average pop listener. But they clicked and ultimately transformed the pop landscape forever. That said, we can just acknowledge that the general public didn't connect with Disease, or at least not enough to make it a hit and our fandom is almost completely dead. There's no need to make excuses imo Yeah, I don't think Disease is really that radio unfriendly. It's more mainstream sounding than Perfect Illusion imo. 2
selfieclownt Posted Tuesday at 07:31 AM Posted Tuesday at 07:31 AM (edited) The sentiment that there was nothing like Gaga's early hits out there before hers is really played out. Obviously she stood out as evidenced by her smashing but that was more about her sensibility and songwriting, it wasn't like she invented a new sound. Her, Kat Deluna, and JLo shared a sample library be so fr. Comparing the public reception of disease to BR released during her first career peak is pointless Edited Tuesday at 07:32 AM by selfieclownt

I thought it was funny and wanted to lighten the mood. Not everything is so serious.

Saying that JLO released songs similiar to Bad Romance (or Poker Face) is... a reach Disease isn't any more "alternative" or uncommercial than Bad Romance was. Gaga has never catered to radio or commercial trends, but as @GraceRandolph pointed out, Perfect Illusion was less palatable than Disease. That being said, Disease is still an incredible song and no amount of floppage can change that 3
PMM Posted Tuesday at 08:10 AM Posted Tuesday at 08:10 AM some of you need to act the same as you did when godsese was released. there are no more tears to cry, we need to stream this song for life 4

Giorgoc Posted Tuesday at 09:48 AM Posted Tuesday at 09:48 AM Disease is still that *****. I was legit listening to it yesterday on a loop for almost the entire day. I haven't been that obsessed with Gaga since BTW and to a lesser extend, John Wayne. 2 1
duybeeGAshantiGA Posted Tuesday at 09:54 AM Posted Tuesday at 09:54 AM (edited) Lmao not Azealia Banks doing liddos' job with those tweets. She is fighting for Disease saying it's Gaga's best song and everything, but we know she will lash Gags again in a few months Edited Tuesday at 10:19 AM by duybeeGAshantiGA 1 2

Human Fly Posted Tuesday at 10:25 AM Posted Tuesday at 10:25 AM The way this debuted with 87M even tho budget is 250M is crazy. Flopped worse than Joker 2 but noone seems to care. It was so obvious the industry wanted to finish Todd or Joaquin and started this hate train. Sadly Gaga seems to effected the most even tho she's innocent in this case. 4

GraceRandolph Posted Tuesday at 11:36 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:36 AM I feel like 2025 is going to be a plot twist and be a surprisingly iconic year for Gaga. Positive LG7 reception, positive Wednesday reception, a tour, and hopefully an announcement of a Tarantino film along with a reverse HOG Oscar nom surprise. 2
